Pinocchio (2022 Animated Film)
''Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio'' (or simply ''Pinocchio'') is a 2022 stop-motion animated musical fantasy film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson (in his feature directorial debut) with a screenplay by del Toro and Patrick McHale from a story by del Toro and Matthew Robbins. Based on the 1883 Italian novel ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' by Carlo Collodi, and strongly influenced by Gris Grimly's illustrations for a 2002 edition of the book, it reimagines the story of Pinocchio, a wooden puppet who comes to life as the son of his carver Geppetto, as "a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father's expectations, learning the true meaning of life" set in Fascist Italy during the interwar period and World War II. Guillermo Del Toro
Guillermo del Toro Gómez (; born October 9, 1964) is a Mexican filmmaker, author, and actor. Alexandre Michel Gérard Desplat (; born 23 August 1961) is a French film composer and conductor. A puppet is an object, often resembling a human, animal or Legendary creature, mythical figure, that is animated or manipulated by a person called a puppeteer. The puppeteer uses movements of their hands, arms, or control devices such as rods or strings to move the body, head, limbs, and in some cases the mouth and eyes of the puppet. Pinocchio
Pinocchio ( , ) is a fictional character and the protagonist of the children's novel ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' (1883) by Italian writer Carlo Collodi of Florence, Tuscany. Pinocchio was carved by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a Tuscan village. He is created as a wooden puppet, but he dreams of becoming a real boy. He is known for his long nose, which grows when he lies. Pinocchio is a cultural icon and one of the most reimagined characters in children's literature.
