Pingxi District
Pingxi District (; also spelled Pinghsi), is a rural district in New Taipei, Taiwan. The source of the Keelung River is in Jingtong, which is inside Pingxi District. It was an important coal mining town in the early 20th century. Its population of 4,872 as of January 2016 is the smallest among the districts of New Taipei City. District (Republic Of China)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipalities of the second level and provincial cities of the third level formerly under its provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. The mountain indigenous district is a local government body with elected district chiefs as well as district council serving four-year terms. Taiwan Coal Mine Museum
The Taiwan Coal Mine Museum () is a museum about coal mining in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. History The museum used to be the coal mining site during the later stage of Pingxi Era of Tai-Yiang Mining Inc called the New Pingxi Mine. It was first opened in 1965 and the first coal extracted was done in 1967. In 1997, the mining activity was halted due to the more competitive price from imported coal to Taiwan. With the help from railway enthusiasts and other associates that cared about the coal mining industry, Mr. Gong Yung-tsang began to create buildings in this historical site and created the museum in 2001 with the storing ground became the museum entrance. After decades of mining, the site produced tons of abandoned overburden rocks which created a 140 meters high rock mountain. Lin Hung-chih
Lin Hung-chih (; born 22 August 1955) is a Taiwanese politician. Education Lin earned a bachelor's degree in transportation and communications management from National Cheng Kung University, before obtaining his master's in political science at National Chengchi University. Political career Lin launched a bid for a seat on the National Assembly in 1991, and served until 2000. While a member of the assembly, he was elected mayor of Banqiao, and reelected in 2001. Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. The Pingxi Line () is a 12.9 km long, single-track railway branch line of the Taiwan Railways Administration. It runs through Ruifang and Pingxi Districts in New Taipei City.
