Phillip Hefferton
Phillip Hefferton (July 25, 1933 – April 2, 2008) was an American pop artist from Detroit, Michigan, known for his paintings of banknotes. Artist In 1958-9 he began drawing "common objects". In 1960 his work was featured in an '' Art in America'' article by Robert Broner on the "Young Artists Group" in Detroit. In 1960 he moved to San Francisco and began work on his first images of banknotes and in 1961 he moved to Los Angeles. In 1962 Hefferton's work was included, along with Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jim Dine, Robert Dowd, Joe Goode, Edward Ruscha, and Wayne Thiebaud, in the exhibition ''New Painting of Common Objects,'' curated by Walter Hopps at the Pasadena Art Museum, the first museum survey of pop art in America. Pasadena Art Museum
The Norton Simon Museum is an art museum located in Pasadena, California, United States. It was previously known as the Pasadena Art Institute and the Pasadena Art Museum and displays numerous sculptures on its grounds. Overview The Norton Simon collections include: European paintings, sculptures, and tapestries; Asian sculptures, paintings, and woodblock prints. Outside sculptures surround the museum, with notable Rodin sculptures near its entrance and other sculptures along Colorado Boulevard and in a landscape setting around a large pond. Kristine McKenna is an American journalist, critic and art curator best known for her interviews with artists, writers, thinkers, filmmakers and musicians. Many of these have been collected in ''Book of Changes'' (2001) and ''Talk to Her'' (2004). Among the people she has interviewed and written about most often over the years are Exene Cervenka, Leonard Cohen, David Lynch, Captain Beefheart, Brian Eno and Dan Hicks. Walter Hopps
Walter "Chico" Hopps (May 3, 1932 – March 20, 2005) was an American museum director, gallerist, and curator of contemporary art. Hopps helped bring Los Angeles post-war artists to prominence during the 1960s, and later went on to redefine practices of curatorial installation internationally.
