Peyton Hall
The McIntyre House is a historic mansion built in 1898 and located at 259 E. 7th Ave. in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. It was designed by architect Frederick Albert Hale. The home was listed by the National Park Service on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. According to its NRHP nomination, the house was commissioned by Gilbert S. "Gill" Peyton and first called "Peyton Hall." and Peyton, a Nebraska pharmacist who perfected and patented a cyanide-based method for extracting gold dust from mud, previously made his way to Utah where he and his partners purchased the largely abandoned Mercur Mine and became wealthy. The house was sold in 1901 to fellow mining executive William H. McIntyre who also founded the McIntyre Ranch, one of the largest working ranches in Canada. Brigham Young University College Of Nursing
The BYU College of Nursing is one of the 16 colleges that make up Brigham Young University. It currently has more than 400 students. It began as the BYU School of Nursing in the fall of 1952 offering a bachelor's degree in nursing. Vivian Hansen was the first dean. At some point in the 1950s, it was changed from being designated a school to being designated a College. In 1963 an associate degree in nursing was established under the auspices of BYU's College of Industrial and Technical Education. The change occurred because some sectors of the academic nursing community felt that associate degree programs should not coexist with bachelor's degree programs. In 1973 the associate degree program was moved into the College of Nursing making transfer between the two programs easier. LDS Hospital (formerly Deseret Hospital) is a general urban hospital and surgical center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The hospital was originally owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), but is now owned and operated by Intermountain Healthcare (IHC). LDS Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission. The hospital has 262 inpatient beds. The current building, in place of the original 1905 hospital, opened in 1984. Mercur, Utah
Mercur is a historical hard rock mining ghost town in Tooele County, Utah, United States. In 1891, it became the site of the first successful use of the cyanide process of gold extraction in the United States, the dominant metallurgy today. Its elevation above sea level is approximately 2,042 m. The nearby Mercur Gold Mine was re-opened by Barrick Gold in 1985, with mining operations again coming to an end in 1997. Gold cyanidation (also known as the cyanide process or the MacArthur-Forrest process) is a hydrometallurgical technique for extracting gold from low-grade ore by converting the gold to a water-soluble coordination complex. It is the most commonly used leaching process for gold extraction. Cyanidation is also widely used in the extraction of silver, usually after froth flotation.
