Peter Fuzes
Peter Fuzes (born 14 May 1947) is an Australian former association soccer player. Fuzes played as a goalkeeper (football), goalkeeper, and represented the national Socceroos. Early life Fuzes is Jewish. He emigrated to Australia in 1957 from Hungary as a refugee. He attended Sydney University. Playing career Club career Fuzes began his senior club career for Sydney City Soccer Club, Hakoah in the NSW Premier League, New South Wales State League in 1965. He played for Hakoah until 1971. In 1972, he transferred to APIA Leichhardt Tigers, APIA Leichhardt. He stayed at APIA for two seasons before moving to Western Suburbs SC (NSW), Western Suburbs for the 1974 season. In many team sports which involve scoring goals, the goalkeeper (sometimes termed goaltender, netminder, GK, goalie or keeper) is a designated player charged with directly preventing the opposing team from scoring by blocking or intercepting opposing shots on goal. Such positions exist in bandy, rink bandy, camogie, association football, Gaelic football, international rules football, floorball, handball, hurling, field hockey, ice hockey, roller hockey, lacrosse, ringette, rinkball, water polo, and shinty as well as in other sports. In the 2016 census, there were 21,175 Australians who identified as Jewish by ancestry, a decrease from 25,716 in the 2011 census, and 91,016 Australians who identified as adherents of Judaism, which is a 6% decrease on 97,355 adherents of Judaism in the 2011 census.
