Pedro Colón
Pedro A. Colón (born April 7, 1968) is an American lawyer, jurist, and Democratic politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Milwaukee County, serving since 2010. In June 2023, he was appointed to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, scheduled to take office in November 2023. He previously served six terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 8th Assembly district from 1999 to 2010. He was the first Latino elected to the Wisconsin Legislature, and when sworn in as judge of the Court of Appeals, he will also be the first Latino in that office. Wisconsin Court Of Appeals
The Wisconsin Court of Appeals is an intermediate appellate court that reviews contested decisions of the Wisconsin circuit courts. The Court of Appeals was created in August 1978 to alleviate the Wisconsin Supreme Court's rising number of appellate cases. Published Court of Appeals opinions are considered binding precedent until overruled by the Supreme Court; unpublished opinions are not. The Court hears most appeals in three-judge panels, but appeals of circuit court decisions in misdemeanor, small claims, and municipal ordinance cases are decided by a single judge. Composition The Court of Appeals comprises 16 judges elected to six-year terms in four geographic districts. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Grant Langley
Grant F. Langley is an American attorney and politician who served as Milwaukee City Attorney from 1984 until 2020. Life and career A 1970 graduate of Marquette University Law School, Langley served as an assistant Milwaukee city attorney from 1971 to 1984. As an assistant city attorney, Langley provided legal representation to the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission and controversial Milwaukee police chief Harold A. Breier. He also represented the Milwaukee Harbor Commission and oversaw cable television contract negotiations between the city and Warner Amex Communications Company. Tom Barrett (Wisconsin Politician)
Thomas Mark Barrett (born December 8, 1953) is an American diplomat and politician who has served as the United States ambassador to Luxembourg since 2022. He previously served as the 44th mayor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 2004 until 2021.
