Peace Action Wellington
Peace Action Wellington (PAW) is a left-wing activist organisation based in Wellington, New Zealand primarily known for their opposition to western intervention and military involvement around the world, advocacy for indigenous rights, and capitalism. With support from members of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, the group is also linked to other local activist groups. Peace Action Wellington is affiliated with the American Peace Action group. For its sometimes provocative actions, the group has attracted the attention of New Zealand's security and intelligence services. Significant opposition to the Iraq War occurred worldwide, both before and during the initial 2003 invasion of Iraq by a United States-led coalition, and throughout the subsequent occupation. People and groups opposing the war include the governments of many nations which did not take part in the invasion, and significant sections of the populace in those that did. Rationales for opposition include the belief that the war is illegal according to the United Nations Charter, or would contribute to instability both within Iraq and the wider Middle East. Critics have also questioned the validity of the war's stated objectives, such as a supposed link between the country's Ba'athist government and the September 11 attacks on the United States, and its possession of weapons of mass destruction "certified" by the Niger uranium forgeries. Operational model The website publishes many submitted news and press releases due to their permissive policy. TSB Bank Arena
The TSB Bank Arena (formerly known as the Queens Wharf Events Centre) is an indoor arena in Wellington. About The arena hosts mainly basketball games and is the home arena for the Century City Saints and part-time home arena of the New Zealand Breakers when they play in Wellington. It was also the home arena for the Richter City Roller Derby, which started to play here in the middle of their 2009 season. It also hosts expositions and conventions like the Armageddon Pulp Expo and the DCM Book Fair. Built in 1995, it originally held 3,635 people. In 2005, the number of seats was upgraded to 4,570 as part of a redevelopment and expansion plan. Justin Mark Lester (born 23 December 1978) is a New Zealand businessman and politician. He was Mayor of Wellington between 2016 and 2019, following six years on the Wellington City Council. Early life and career Lester is from Invercargill, where he lived with his mother and two brothers in a state house. Lester has an LLB and BA (German) from the University of Otago and a Masters of Laws (LLM) from the University of Heidelberg in Germany. The Mayor of Wellington is the head of the municipal government of the City of Wellington. The mayor presides over the Wellington City Council. Wellington Cenotaph
The Wellington Cenotaph, also known as the Wellington Citizens' War Memorial, is a war memorial located on the intersection of Lambton Quay and Bowen Street in Wellington, New Zealand. It commemorates the war dead of the two world wars. The cenotaph is listed by Heritage New Zealand and it is the city's focus for the annual Anzac Day commemorations. Te Ngākau Civic Square is a public square in central Wellington, New Zealand, between the Wellington central business district to the north and the Te Aro entertainment district to the south. Characteristics Te Ngākau Civic Square is located at 101 Wakefield Street, Wellington.
