Pınarkent
Pınarkent is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Pamukkale, Denizli, Pamukkale, Denizli Province, Turkey. Its population is 6,778 (2022). Before the 2013 Turkish local government reorganisation, 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (''belde''). Geography The town is situated to the east of Denizli and Recep Yazıcıoğlu dam. It is both on the railway to İzmir and state highway State road D.320 (Turkey), D.320 to Aegean Sea coast. Distance to Denizli is . History The probable origin of the population of the town is the Danishment tribe of Oghuz Turk, Turkmens. The tribe was a nomadic tribe but in 1700s, the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman government forced them to settle. After some clashes the tribe settled in what is now Pınarkent and they changed their primary source of income, from sheep breeding to agriculture. Pamukkale, Denizli
Pamukkale, formerly known as Akköy, is a district and second level municipality in Denizli Province, Turkey. It first came into existence with the fusion of two small villages, Aziziye and Sultaniye in reference to the 19th century Ottoman sultan, founded by Dagestani refugees of the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878). It officially acquired the status of a village in 1935 and became a township with its own municipality in 1971, to be made into a distinct district center in 1991. The district was renamed as Pamukkale by TBMM in 2012. Pamukkale center lies at a distance of 23 km from Denizli center, with which it shares the same plain. One township with its own municipality (Gölemezli) and six villages depend Pamukkale. Pamukkale is notable for its thermal springs located in the nearby depending township of Gölemezli. Denizli Province
Denizli Province ( tr, ) is a province of Turkey in Western Anatolia, on high ground above the Aegean coast. Neighbouring provinces are Uşak to the north, Burdur, Isparta, Afyon to the east, Aydın, Manisa to the west and Muğla to the south. It is located between the coordinates 28° 30’ and 29° 30’ E and 37° 12’ and 38° 12’ N. It covers an area of 11,868 km2, and the population is 931,823. The population was 750,882 in 1990. 2013 Turkish Local Government Reorganisation
Municipalities ( tr, belediyeler) are the basic units of local government in Turkey. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute the population of Turkey was 76,667,864 as of 31 December 2013. The majority of the population live in settlements with municipalities. The number of municipalities in Turkey was 2,947 in 2009. But in 2013, most of the small town ( tr, belde) municipalities were merged to district ( tr, ilçe) municipalities by the Act 6360 which came into effect at the 2014 local elections sharply decreased the number of municipalities to 1,394. Belde
Belde (literally "town", also known as ''kasaba'') means "large village with a municipality" in Turkish. All Turkish province centers and district centers have municipalities, but the villages (and also subdistricts) are usually too small to have municipalities. The population in some villages may exceed 2000 and in such villages a small municipality may be established depending on residents' choice. Such villages are called ''belde''. Up to 2014 the number of ''belde'' municipalities was about 1400. However, on 30 March 2014 by the act no. 6360 all villages (those with and without municipality) were included in the urban fabric of the district municipalities in 30 provinces. Thus ''belde'' municipalities in 30 provinces were abolished. The number of abolished ''belde'' municipalities is 1040. The Aegean Sea ; tr, Ege Denizi (Greek: Αιγαίο Î Îλαγος: "Egéo Pélagos", Turkish: "Ege Denizi" or "Adalar Denizi") is an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea between Europe and Asia.
