Fu Jian (317–355)
Fu Jian (; 317–355), originally named Pu Jian (蒲健, name changed 350), courtesy name Jianye (建業), also known by his posthumous name as the Emperor Jingming of Former Qin (前秦景明帝), was the founding emperor of the Di-led Chinese Former Qin dynasty. During the reign of Shi Hu of Later Zhao Pú Jiàn was born, as Pu Hong (蒲洪)'s third son, by Lady Jiang, in 317, while Pu Hong was a Di chieftain under Han-Zhao. However, he grew up largely during the time when Pu Hong served under Later Zhao's emperor Shi Hu. Shi Hu, while outwardly appreciative of Pu Hong's service, was deeply apprehensive of the loyalty Pu's Di soldiers had for him, and so secretly killed Pu Hong's two oldest sons. However, impressed with Pú Jiàn's bravery, archery, horsemanship, and generosity, Shi Hu favored him greatly and spared him. Pu Shougeng
Pu Shougeng (; fl. c. 1250–1284) was a Muslim merchant and administrator of China's Southern Song and Yuan dynasties. The surname Pu was likely derived from Arabic '' Abū'' (father). Pu's family background is unknown. According to one theory, his family came from Central Asia to Sichuan during the early Song and later emigrated to Quanzhou. According to another, they arrived in the Southern Song from Champa. The most likely scenario is that his family was of South Arabian or Central Asian Persian origin and settled in Guangzhou. Pu was one of the wealthiest merchants in Fujian when, around 1250, he was appointed Superintendent of Maritime Trade in Quanzhou. He held the post for almost thirty years, using it to amass great wealth. When the Southern Song court fled to Quanzhou, Pu claimed that there were many royal clan members in Quanzhou waiting to welcome the emperor; these clansmen, Pu alleged, wished to make Quanzhou the new Song capital. Pu Songling
Pu Songling ( zh, t= , 5 June 1640 – 25 February 1715) was a Chinese writer during the Qing dynasty, best known as the author of '' Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio'' (''Liaozhai zhiyi''). Biography Pu was born into a poor merchant family from Zichuan (淄川, in Zibo, Shandong). At the age of 18, he received the Xiucai degree in the Imperial examination. It was not until he was 71 that he was awarded the '' Gongsheng'' ("tribute student") degree for his achievement in literature rather than for passing the Imperial exam. He spent most of his life working as a private tutor, collecting stories that were later published in '' Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio'' in 1740. Pu Tze-chun () is a Taiwanese military official and a former admiral of the Republic of China Navy (ROCN) in Taiwan. Mu-ming Poo (; born October 31, 1948) is a Chinese neuroscientist. He is the Paul Licht Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley and the Founding Director of the Shanghai-based Institute of Neuroscience (ION) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Pu Zhelong (; 1912–1997) was a Chinese entomologist and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Biography Born in Yunnan, Pu's family was originally from Qinzhou, Guangxi. Pu Tiansheng (or Pu Tian-shen, Chinese: 蒲添生, 1912.06.19~1996.05.31) was a well-known Taiwanese sculptor. He created Taiwan's first ever likeness of Sun Yat-sen, today on display in front of Taipei Zhongshan Hall. He was a pioneer of modern sculpture in Taiwan, founder of Taiwan's first bronze casting factory.
