Péter Nagy (weightlifter)
Péter Nagy (born 16 January 1986) is a Hungary, Hungarian weightlifter. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's +105 kg, +105 kg event. Nagy won a bronze medal in the +105 kg snatch (weightlifting), snatch at the 2012 European Weightlifting Championships and a gold medal at the Weightlifting at the 2011 Summer Universiade, 2011 Summer Universiade (he was second after the competition but received the gold when Mohamed Masoud (weightlifter), Mohamed Masoud was disqualified). Weightlifting At The 2016 Summer Olympics
Weightlifting competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 16 August at the Pavilion 2 of Riocentro. 260 athletes (156 men and 104 women) competed in 15 different events according to their respective weight categories. Bulgaria and Russia were banned from participating in the sport for systematic doping. Ashgabat (Turkmen language, Turkmen: ''Aşgabat'') is the capital city, capital and largest city of Turkmenistan. 2018 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2018 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 1 to 10 November 2018. This was the first World Championship after the International Weightlifting Federation, IWF changed their weight classes and nullified all world records. As a result, this World Championship saw a total of 31 senior World record progression men's weightlifting, men's world records and 41 senior World record progression women's weightlifting, women's world records set. To celebrate the event, then-President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow lifted a golden weight bar, albeit without any actual weights, during a cabinet meeting while his subordinates applauded him. 2021 World Weightlifting Championships
The 2021 World Weightlifting Championships was a weightlifting competition held from 7 to 17 December in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Due to concerns about the rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant, Omicron variant and held shortly after 2020 Summer Olympics, Olympics and 2021 National Games of China, Chinese National Games, the tournament faced the absence of many strong competitors. 10 Olympic champions from Weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Tokyo four months earlier, 15 world champion title holders, and entire teams from China, North Korea, Italy and Germany decided not to compete. Weightlifters competing at the event were exempt from the required quarantine when visiting Uzbekistan. World Weightlifting Championships
The World Weightlifting Championships is an international weightlifting competition, currently held annually (except for years of the Summer Olympic Games) by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The predecessor organization of the IWF was founded in 1905, but World Championship events began before its foundation.
