Requienellaceae
The Requienellaceae are a family of fungi in the order Pyrenulales. Species in this family have a widespread distribution, and grow on wood and bark. Taxonomy Requienellaceae was circumscribed by Jean Boise in 1986, based on studies conducted during research on the genus '' Trematosphaeria''. The family was established within the order Melanommatales (sensu Barr) or Pyrenulales (sensu Eriksson and Hawksworth). The type genus is '' Requienella'', which was originally proposed by Jean-Henri Fabre in 1883. The genus name was sometimes mistakenly spelled as "Requinella" in early mycological literature, including ''Ainsworth and Bisby's Dictionary of the Fungi'' (1943). When first describing the family, Boise designated '' Requienella seminuda'' as the type species of both the genus and family. This species was previously known under various names, including ''Sphaeria seminuda'' and ''Requienella olearum''. A significant taxonomic clarification made in the original 1986 publicatio ... Eurotiomycetes
Eurotiomycetes is a large class of ascomycetes with cleistothecial ascocarps within the subphylum Pezizomycotina, currently containing around 3810 species according to the Catalogue of Life. It is the third largest lichenized class, with more than 1200 lichen species that are mostly bitunicate in the formation of asci. It contains most of the fungi previously known morphologically as " Plectomycetes". Systematics and phylogeny Internal relationships The class Eurotiomycetes was circumscribed in 1997 by Swedish mycologists Ove Erik Eriksson and Katarina Winka. At that time it only contained the order Eurotiales, which together with the next order added, Onygenales, form a monophyletic group comprising most of the fungi in "Plectomycetes", a group no longer in use that unified fungi under exclusively morphological characteristics. As more orders were added to Eurotiomycetes, the first two along with Arachnomycetales became constrained to the first subclass, Eurotiomycetida ... Rhaphidicyrtis
''Rhaphidicyrtis'' is a fungal genus of uncertain familial placement in the order Pyrenulales. It consists of the single species, ''Rhaphidicyrtis trichosporella'', a bark-dwelling, crustose lichen that forms thin, pale patches on tree bark in humid deciduous woodlands. This small, inconspicuous lichen is characterised by tiny black reproductive structures scattered across its surface and distinctive microscopic features that set it apart from similar species. Originally described from Finnish collections in 1874, ''R. trichosporella'' has since been found in several European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, and the British Isles. The genus has been subject to taxonomic debate regarding its classification as a lichen, with recent observations confirming its symbiotic relationship with algae. Despite its widespread distribution, ''R. trichosporella'' is often rare within suitable habitats, suggesting specific environmental requirements that are not yet fully under ... Lithothelium
''Lithothelium'' is a genus of lichen-forming fungi in the family Pyrenulaceae. Most of the species are found in tropical climates, and are usually corticolous (bark-dwelling) or saxicolous (rock-dwelling). These lichens form thin, crust-like layers that are often embedded within their substrate and are characterized by distinctive black, flask-shaped reproductive structures that may occur individually or in fused clusters with small openings for spore release. Established as a genus in 1885 by the Swiss botanist Johannes Müller Argoviensis, ''Lithothelium'' species can be distinguished from similar lichens by their rounded spore compartments and the presence of specialized structures called ocular chambers that assist in spore discharge. Taxonomy The genus was circumscribed by the Swiss botanist Johannes Müller Argoviensis in 1885, with ''L. cubanum'' as the type species. Müller distinguished ''Lithothelium'' from related genera by its crustose, often inconspicuous thall ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Blastodesmia
''Blastodesmia'' is a monotypic fungal genus in the family Pyrenulaceae. It contains the single species ''Blastodesmia nitida'', a corticolous (bark-dwelling) crustose lichen found in Europe. Both the genus and the species were described in 1852 by the Italian botanist Abramo Bartolommeo Massalongo. Historically, two other species have been included in the genus, but are currently not accepted by Species Fungorum: * ''Blastodesmia albonigra'' * ''Blastodesmia lactea'' Characteristics of genus ''Blastodesmia'' include paraphyses in the , transversely septate that are grey to brown in colour, and pyrenocarp-type ascomata with ascoma walls. The ascospores are mostly 37–47 μm long and have a constriction at the septa SEPTA, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, is a regional public transportation authority that operates bus, rapid transit, commuter rail, light rail, and electric trolleybus services for nearly four million people througho ....
