Pusionella Buccinata
''Pusionella buccinata'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Clavatulidae. Found by Lamarck in 1822. This species has also been considered a synonym of ''Pusionella vulpina''. George Washington Tryon, Manual of Conchology vol. VI p. 235; 1884 ''Pusionella buccinata'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk belonging to the family Clavatulidae This species was formally described by Jean-Baptiste Lamarck in 1822 , 2 Description The shell of ''Pusionella buccinata'' is characterized by its fusiform (spindle-shaped) or somewhat stout, "buccinoid" appearance, which likely inspired its specific name "buccinata" (resembling a ''Buccinum'' snail, or common whelk). While specific measurements are not widely detailed, it shares general characteristics with other species within the genus ''Pusionella''. Common features of the genus ''Pusionella'' that would apply to ''P. buccinata'' include: * Shell Morphology: The shell is typically so ... Pusionella Ghanaensis
''Pusionella ghanaensis'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Clavatulidae. ''Pusionella ghanaensis'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk belonging to the family Clavatulidae This species was formally described by Emile Dautzenberg and Philippe Dautzenberg in 1912 , 2 As its name suggests, it is primarily found off the coast of Ghana, West Africa. Description While a detailed, standalone morphological description of ''Pusionella ghanaensis'' is not extensively available in common databases, general characteristics can be inferred from its genus, ''Pusionella''. Species within ''Pusionella'' typically exhibit: * Shell Shape: A fusiform (spindle-shaped) to turriform (tower-shaped) shell * Sculpture: The shell often features strong axial ribs and spiral cords, which can give it a sculptured or somewhat cancellate (latticed) appearance. * Aperture: The opening (aperture) is usually relatively narrow. * Siphonal Canal: A disti ... The shell is stouter than the shell of '' Pusionella aculeiformis''. There are no longitudinal ribs. The upper part of the whorls contains two or three engraved revolving lines, and several more at the base of the body whorl. Otherwise, the shell is smooth and polished, or with microscopic revolving striae. The color of the shell is moderate brown, sometimes yellowish or orange-brown. Pusionella Compacta
''Pusionella compacta'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Clavatulidae. Description The shell grows to a length of 26 mm. (Original description) This form differs from the group of ''Clavatula milleti'' (synonym: ''Pusionella milleti'') in her characteristic feature of the sculpture: the continuous vertical spiral suture is missing. They occur only up to the 7th whorl yet and then disappear completely, and as otherwise deviations also occur, so this form must be singled out. The compact spire contains 11–12 whorls. These are slightly rounded and convex. The aperture is the same as in ''Clavatula milleti''. The callus at the anal sinus stands out clearly. Distribution This species occurs in the Atlantic Ocean off West Africa and Angola Angola, officially the Republic of Angola, is a country on the west-Central Africa, central coast of Southern Africa. ''Pusionella lupinus'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Clavatulidae. This species is also considered a synonym of ''Pusionella milleti milleti'' (Petit de la Saussaye, S., 1851). This has also become a synonym of ''Clavatula milleti'' Description The size of an adult shell varies between 15 mm and 55 mm. The shell is whitish, or has a yellowish flesh-color, or brown. It is more or less decussated by longitudinal and revolving engraved lines, sometimes forming granulations especially on the spire. The revolving lines are prominent on the body whorl, where the longitudinal ones are usually subobsolete. George Washington Tryon, Manual of Conchology vol. ''Pusionella remorata'' is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Clavatulidae. Description The length of the shell attains 38 mm, its diameter 13 mm. (Original description) The elongate shell is turreted, fairly solid and shining. The color of the shell is pale yellowish-white. The acute protoconch is polished, whitish and smooth. The sculpture consists of 3-4 spirals on the earlier whorls, mainly collected below the sutures. On the body whorl, in addition, about 6 spirals encircle the base, and indications of others are seen between the two series. The second, third, and fourth whorls also show traces of longitudinal sculpture, which appears on the later whorls only as lines of growth. The shell consists of 11½ flat whorls, the last measuring just over half the length of the shell. The aperture is ovate, with a short siphonal canal. The outer lip is thin.
