Public Safety Minister
The minister of public safety and emergency preparedness () is the minister of the Crown responsible for Public Safety Canada and a member of the Cabinet of Canada. The portfolio succeeded the role of Solicitor General of Canada in 2005. Gary Anandasangaree has been the incumbent minister since May 13, 2025. Role and history The position was nominally created in December 2003 as a successor to the previous position of solicitor general, with the official title of ''Solicitor General'' carrying over during the 27th Canadian Ministry. The minister is the head of the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the internal security and border security department of the Government of Canada, which is also responsible for the ''Emergency Management Act''. Gary Anandasangaree
Sathiyasangaree "Gary" Anandasangaree () is a Canadian politician and a lawyer who has been Minister of Public Safety since 2025. A member of the Liberal Party, Anandasangaree was elected to the House of Commons in 2015 and currently serves as the member of Parliament (MP) for Scarborough—Guildwood—Rouge Park. Anandasangaree was previously the minister of Crown–Indigenous relations and northern affairs from December 2024 to May 2025 and minister of justice and attorney general of Canada from March to May 2025. He is a Tamil-Canadian, and the second minister of Tamil descent to hold office, following Anita Anand. Early life and family Anandasangaree, born in Jaffna in 1973, is the son of V. Internal security is the act of keeping peace within the borders of a sovereign state or other Self-governance, self-governing territories, generally by upholding the national law and defending against internal security threats. This task and role differs from border security. Responsibility for internal security may range from police to paramilitary forces, and in exceptional circumstances, the military itself. Stockwell is a district located in South London, part of the London Borough of Lambeth, England. It is situated south of Charing Cross. History The name Stockwell is likely to have originated from a local well, with "stoc" being Old English for a tree trunk or post. From the thirteenth to the start of the nineteenth century, Stockwell was a rural manor at the edge of London. It included market gardens and John Tradescant's botanical garden – commemorated in Tradescant Road, which was built over it in 1880, and in a memorial outside St Stephen's church. In the nineteenth century it developed as an elegant middle-class suburb. Residents included the artist Arthur Rackham, who was born on South Lambeth Road in 1867, moving with his family to Albert Square when he was 15 years old. Paul Martin
Paul Edgar Philippe Martin (born August 28, 1938), also known as Paul Martin Jr., is a Canadian lawyer and retired politician who served as the 21st prime minister of Canada and the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada from 2003 to 2006.
