Prêmio Belfort Duarte
The Prêmio Belfort Duarte was a football award given by the Brazilian National Sports Council to the football player who completes ten years without being booked with a red card. Starting in 1995, the award was given by the CBF, and since 2008 the award is given by Rede Globo. It is named after Belfort Duarte because in a game he mentioned to the referee that he committed a foul in his club's penalty area. History The award was created on August 16, 1945, by the now defunct Brazilian National Sports Council, and instituted on January 1, 1946, and it is given to the amateur or professional footballers who completed at least two hundred games in at least a ten-year career without being booked with a red card. Those players were awarded with a certificate, a medal and a card granting free entrance to every stadium in Brazil. Brazilian Football Confederation
The Brazilian Football Confederation (, CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. It was founded on Monday, 8 June 1914, as , and renamed Confederação Brasileira de Desportos in 1916. The football confederation, as known today, separated from other sports associations on 24 September 1979. The CBF has its headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. The confederation owns a training center, named Granja Comary, located in Teresópolis. Belfort Duarte
João Evangelista Belfort Duarte, commonly known as Belfort Duarte (27 November 1883 – 27 November 1918), was a Brazilian football central defender. The Belfort Duarte Award is named after him. Playing career Born in São Luís, Maranhão state, he started his career in 1902, with Mackenzie College, where he translated the football rules to Portuguese. He was also one of the club's founders. Belfort Duarte worked for Light & Power company in 1906. He joined America-RJ in 1906, changing the club's colors from black to red in 1908. With America, he won the Campeonato Carioca in 1913. Belfort Duarte played his last game in 1915, against Flamengo. Coaching career After his retirement, he started a coaching career, managing America in 1916, winning the state championship in that year. Penalty Area
The penalty area or 18-yard box (also known less formally as the penalty box or simply box) is an area of an association football pitch. It is rectangular and extends to each side of the goal and in front of it. If any part of the ball is over any part of a line demarking the penalty area then the ball is considered to be inside the penalty area. Everaldo (footballer, Born 1944)
Everaldo Marques da Silva (11 September 1944 – 28 October 1974), nicknamed Everaldo, was a footballer from Brazil who played as a left back for Grêmio and the Brazil national team. He won the 1970 FIFA World Cup. The golden star in Grêmio's flag was added in 1970 in his homage. Club career Everaldo was born in Porto Alegre. He spent his entire club career with Grêmio except for a loan at Juventude. He died in a car accident on 28 October 1974 in Santa Cruz do Sul. International career Everaldo had 24 caps with the Brazil national team between 1967 and 1972. The first one was obtained in June 1967. Everaldo won the 1970 FIFA World Cup.
