Protégé (film)
''Protégé'' is a 2007 Hong Kong-Singaporean co-produced crime drama film written and directed by Derek Yee, starring Andy Lau, Daniel Wu, Louis Koo, Zhang Jingchu and Anita Yuen. Plot Undercover officer Nick had spent the last seven years penetrating into the core of a drug ring, working his way up from a street dealer post to the managerial position handling cargo deliveries for Kwan – the biggest player in the local heroin market. When the ailing Kwan makes Nick his protégé, Nick cannot help but sway before money and power and starts to perform his role like a real drug trafficker. This, together with his affair with heroin-addict Fan, causes Nick to become more and more confused about his true identity, and eventually leads to a disastrous end. Derek Yee
Derek Yee Tung-sing () is a film producer, director and a former Shaw Brothers actor from Hong Kong. Early life Yee was born Yee Tung-sing in Hong Kong on 28 December 1957, the son of Yee Kwong (爾光), a film producer from Tianjin, Tientsin (Tianjin), and Hung Wei (紅薇), an actress of half Manchu, half Mongol ethnicity. Yee's elder half-brothers Paul Chun and David Chiang as well as his elder half-sister Yim Wai were also actors. Career In 1977, Yee became an actor for Shaw Brothers Studio in Hong Kong. Yee has starred in over 40 movies in Hong Kong. This was between 1975 and 1986, during the time when Shaw Brothers Studio were still producing movies. Yee became a screenwriter and film director. Yee is known for the 2004 film ''One Nite in Mongkok'', which won multiple awards. Liu Kai-chi
Dick Liu Kai-chi (, 30 September 1953 – 28 March 2021) was a Hong Kong actor, best known for his everyman supporting roles. His career spanned over 40 years, with appearances in over 90 television series and 70 films. He earned eight nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor, two of which he won; one for his role in the 1992 comedy ''Cageman,'' and the other for the action thriller '' Beast Stalker'' in 2009. Career Liu had been interested in acting at an early age, and decided to enter the film industry after graduating high school. He took on various film crew positions to accumulate industry experience, and was initially rejected from acting school because of his height and "ordinary" appearance.
