Projeto Comprova
Projeto Comprova is a collaborative effort between several media outlets in Brazil, coordinated by the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism, with the aim of verifying the veracity of information published on social media and the internet in general, centralizing fact-checking on its website and unmasking fake news. Portuguese Language
Portuguese ( or ) is a Western Romance language of the Indo-European language family originating from the Iberian Peninsula of Europe. BandNews TV
BandNews TV is a Brazilian 24-hour television news channel, owned by Grupo Bandeirantes. It was the second news channel launched in the Brazilian cable/satellite market. The history of BandNews dated back to 19 March 2001, when it was launched by Grupo Bandeirantes. The first ever newscast aired at 11am that day. BandNews TV's programming was formatted around the idea (like 1982-2005 CNN Headline News) that a viewer could tune in at any time of day or night (instead of having to wait for the morning or evening news programs/round-ups on Record News and GloboNews channels), and receive up-to-date information on the top Brazilian and international stories in just 15 minutes. The initial investments from BAND for the channel were infrastructures, technical staffs and journalists, which cost them $6 million. Misinformation
Misinformation is incorrect or misleading information. Misinformation and disinformation are not interchangeable terms: misinformation can exist with or without specific malicious intent, whereas disinformation is distinct in that the information is ''deliberately'' deceptive and propagated. Disinformation is misleading content deliberately spread to deceive people, or to secure economic or political gain and which may cause public harm. First Draft News
First Draft News was a project "to fight mis- and disinformation online" founded in 2015 by nine organizations brought together by the Google News Lab. It included Facebook, Twitter, the Open Society Foundations and several philanthropic organizations. In June 2022, First Draft announced it would be shutting down, with its mission continuing at the Information Futures Lab. Project description The project drew on experts and organisations working in the field, including reported.ly, Eyewitness Media Hub, Storyful and Meedan. 2020 Brazilian Municipal Elections
Municipal elections took place in Brazil on 15 November 2020 (and 29 November, for cities with more than 200,000 voters where the second polling date was available).
