Project Twinkle (album)
''Project Twinkle'' is the second album by Canadian alternative rock band King Cobb Steelie, released in 1994.Derek Weiler, "King Cobb Steelie endures". ''Waterloo Region Record'', November 10, 1994. Produced by Bill Laswell, the album moved away from the funk-rock of their 1993 album '' King Cobb Steelie'' toward a more groove-oriented sound. The band contacted Laswell through mutual acquaintances, following an abortive recording session with Steve Albini. Reissue The album was reissued in 2012 on Pheromone Recordings, with a new remix of "Italian Ufology Today" by Mad Professor as a bonus track. The reissue was promoted with limited live performances at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto, and the Stay Out of the Mall Festival in the band's hometown of Guelph.Ben Rayner, "Ben Rayner's reasons to live". Horseshoe Tavern
The Horseshoe Tavern (known as The Horseshoe, The 'Shoe', The 'Toronto Tavern' and The 'Triple T' to Toronto locals) is a concert venue at 370 Queen Street West (northeast corner of Queen at Spadina) in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and has been in operation since 1947. Owned by "JC", Ken Sprackman, Craig Laskey, Naomi Montpetit, and the late Michael "X-Ray" MacRae, the venue is a significant part of Canadian musical lore. I Mother Earth, or IME, is a Canadian rock band. The band formed in 1990, reaching its peak popularity in the latter half of the 1990s. After an eight-year hiatus, it reunited in 2012. Guelph Mercury
The ''Guelph Mercury'' was an English language daily newspaper published in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. It published a mix of community, national and international news and is owned by the Torstar Corporation. The newspaper, in many incarnations, was a part of the community since 1854. It was one of the oldest broadsheet newspapers in Ontario. Publication was discontinued in late January 2016. History The ''Wellington Mercury'' was founded in 1853, and published weekly by owner George Keeling. A competing paper was started in 1854, named the ''Guelph Advertiser''. The Juno Awards of 1995 was an awards show representing Canadian music industry achievements of the previous year. It took place on 26 March 1995 in Hamilton, Ontario at a ceremony in the Copps Coliseum. Mary Walsh, Rick Mercer and other regulars of the television series '' This Hour Has 22 Minutes'' were the hosts for the ceremonies, which were broadcast on CBC Television. Almost 10,000 people were in attendance, and over 6,500 public tickets were sold. It was the first time the Awards event was open to the public. Nominees were announced on 1 February 1995. The Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year is presented annually at Canada's Juno Awards to honour the best album of the year in the alternative rock and/or indie rock genres. The award was first presented in 1995 under the name Best Alternative Album, and adopted its current name in 2003.
