Project Hail Mary
''Project Hail Mary'' is a 2021 science fiction novel by American writer Andy Weir. Set in the near future, it centers on school-teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace, who wakes up from a coma afflicted with amnesia. He gradually remembers that he was sent to the Tau Ceti system, 12 light-years from Earth, to find a means of reversing a solar dimming event that could cause the extinction of humanity. It received generally positive reviews, and it was a finalist for the 2022 Hugo Award for Best Novel. The unabridged audiobook is read by Ray Porter. A film adaptation is currently in production, starring Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller, with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directing. It is scheduled for release on March 20, 2026. Andy Weir
Andrew Weir (; born June 16, 1972) is an American novelist. His 2011 novel '' The Martian'' was adapted into the 2015 film of the same name directed by Ridley Scott. He received the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2016 and his 2021 novel '' Project Hail Mary'' was a finalist for the 2022 Hugo Award for Best Novel. Early life Weir was raised in Milpitas, California. Global Dimming
Global dimming is a decline in the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth's surface. It is caused by atmospheric particulate matter, predominantly sulfate aerosols, which are components of air pollution. Global dimming was observed soon after the first systematic measurements of solar irradiance began in the 1950s.
