Prix Michel-Côté
The Prix Michel-Côté is an annual film award, presented by Québec Cinéma as part of its annual Prix Iris, to honour the most popular film of the year among film audiences in Quebec. First presented in 1999 as part of the Prix Jutra, the award was known as the Billet d'or ("Golden Ticket"), and was presented to the film that had been the most successful at the box office. When the awards program was relaunched as the Prix Iris, the ''Billet d'or'' was relaunched as the Prix Public, which now sees the five top-grossing films of the year submitted to a public vote to award the film that was most liked by audiences. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada and its effects on film distribution in 2020, the 23rd Quebec Cinema Awards in 2021 did not limit the award to only the five top-grossing films of the year, but allowed the public to vote for their favourite among all 16 Quebec films that had received any commercial screenings at all in the previous year. Québec Cinéma
Québec Cinéma is a Canadian organization based in Quebec, whose mission is to promote and develop the Cinema of Quebec. The organization's programs include the Prix Iris, the annual film awards for Quebec films; the Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma, an annual film festival; the Lab Québec Cinéma, which works with schools to facilitate the use of Quebec films in educational contexts; and Tournée Québec Cinéma, which presents an annual touring minifestival of Quebec films in English Canada, English Canadian cities where French-language films from Quebec would not otherwise receive theatrical distribution. The organization is also a sponsor of the Prix collégial du cinéma québécois, an educational program which engages film studies students in the province's CEGEPs to present an annual film award. Charles Binamé
Charles Binamé (born May 25, 1949) is a Quebec director. He was born in Belgium and came to Montreal with his family at a young age. He joined the National Film Board of Canada as an assistant director in 1971, but soon left for the private sector. During the 1970s, he mostly directed documentaries for Quebec television, and in the 1980s he directed over 200 television commercials, including some in England. When he returned to Canada in the early 1990s, he directed two of Quebec's most popular television series of all time, ''Blanche'' (the sequel to the series ''Les Filles de Caleb'') and '' Marguerite Volant''. The former won him seven Prix Gémeaux and the FIPA d'Or at Cannes Film Festival for best drama series. Roger Frappier
Roger Frappier (born April 14, 1945) is a Canadian producer, director, editor, actor, and screenwriter. Biography Roger Frappier worked in all areas of the film business, from film critic to television commercial director to director/ producer of the experimental feature documentary ''Le Gand film ordinaire'', until he found his true vocation as a hands-on producer. While at the National Film Board of Canada in the early 1980s, he assembled a group of writer/directors who collaborated on developing edgy, urban dramas. The script for ''Le Déclin de l’empire américain'' emerged from the process that Frappier had set in motion. With that film’s phenomenal success, Frappier rose to the ranks of the top producers of feature films in Quebec.
