Princeton Branch
The Princeton Branch, also known as the Dinky, or the Princeton Junction and Back (PJ&B), is a commuter rail line and service owned and operated by New Jersey Transit (NJT) in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The line is a short branch of the Northeast Corridor Line, running from Princeton Junction (NJT station), Princeton Junction northwest to Princeton (NJT station), Princeton with no intermediate stops (the line had an intermediate stop, Penns Neck, until 1971). The branch is served by special 1-or-2 car trains. Now running along a single track, it is the shortest scheduled commuter rail line in the United States. The run takes approximately 5 minutes in each direction. At the initiative of Princeton University, the line was shortened by in order to construct a new University Arts Center. Princeton Junction (NJT Station)
Princeton Junction station (signed as Princeton Junction at West Windsor) is a railroad station in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, Princeton Junction, a section of West Windsor Township, New Jersey, West Windsor Township, Mercer County, New Jersey. The station services both NJ Transit, New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor Line and Princeton Branch services along with the ''Northeast Regional'' and ''Keystone Service'' of Amtrak. The Delaware and Raritan Canal (D&R Canal) is a canal in central New Jersey, built in the 1830s, that connects the Delaware River to the Raritan River. The Camden and Amboy Railroad and Transportation Company, usually shortened to the Camden and Amboy Railroad (C&A), was a railway company in New Jersey. It was incorporated in 1830 and opened its first line in 1832, making it one of the oldest railroads in North America. Arrow (railcar)
The Jersey Arrow is a type of electric multiple unit (EMU) railcar developed for the Pennsylvania Railroad, and used through successive commuter operators in New Jersey, through to NJ Transit. Three models were built, but only the third model is in use today. The series is similar to SEPTA's Silverliner series, but include center doors among other differences in details. Arrow I The first series of Arrows (classed MA-1A or PRR MP85E6) were built in 1968–69 by the St. Louis Car Company; 35 were built and purchased by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT). These cars were initially numbered 100–134. These cars were built with higher capacity 3-2 seating which caused grumbling by the passengers at that time.
