The Primera División de Fútbol Profesional de El Salvador (First Division of Professional Football of El Salvador), more commonly known as La Liga Mayor or La Primera, also known as Liga Pepsi for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional association football, football league in El Salvador. It was established in 1947, and in 2011 had 10 clubs. Initially the league was run as a year-long tournament, but since 1998 there are two tournaments each year, much like in many other football leagues in the Americas. The Apertura season runs from August to December, while the Clausura season runs from February to July. Of the 56 teams to have competed in the league, C.D. José Luis Rugamas
José Luis Rugamas Portillo (born 5 June 1953 in San Salvador) is a Salvadoran Football (soccer), football Manager (soccer), manager and former professional player. He was interim manager of the El Salvador national football team, El Salvador national team. As a player, he represented his country at the Football World Cup 1982, 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. William Alexander Renderos Iraheta (born 3 October 1971) is a former Salvadoran professional footballer and currently manager of CD Municipal Limeño Club career Renderos started his professional football career at C.D. FAS, FAS where he would stay for twelve years, except for a short period at Luis Ángel Firpo. William Osorio
William Adalberto Osorio Rivera (born April 13, 1971) is a retired Salvadoran footballer. He was assistant coach at CD FAS, assisting technical director William Renderos. Club career After coming through at Coca-Cola, for whom he made his debut in 1987 while in the Salvadoran second division, Osorio started his top level career with FAS and made his debut in August 1990 against Fuerte San Francisco. Adolfo Humberto Menéndez Cortéz (born 13 April 1970 in Santa Ana, El Salvador) is a retired Salvadoran footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Waldir Guerra (born April 2, 1967) is a retired Salvadoran footballer who played for the El Salvador national football team during his career. Club career Guerra arrived in the USA as a refugee in 1982 and attended Bells High School for whom he scored 117 goals in his first three years, which was a record.
