''Primer'' is a 2004 American Independent film, independent science fiction film about the accidental discovery of time travel. The film was written, directed, produced, edited and scored by Shane Carruth in his debut feature. Carruth also stars with David Sullivan (actor), David Sullivan. ''Primer'' is noted for its extremely low budget, experimental plot structure, philosophical implications, and complex technical dialogue, which Carruth, a college graduate with a degree in mathematics and a former engineer, chose not to simplify for the sake of the audience. Great Primer
Great primer is a large font size (18 points) that was used in the printing of English Bibles and other large-format books, leading to its other name of ''Bible Text''. The largest size ever (or at least up to about 1843) used in England for printing books, it was several sizes larger than English (14 pt) but smaller than paragon (20 pt). It was known in Italian as ''testo''. Other synonyms include ''Double Bourgeois'', ''18-point'', ''Gros Romain'' (French), ''Text'' (Dutch) and ''Tertia'' (German). A trap primer (or trap seal primer) is a plumbing device or valve that adds water to traps. The water seals in traps are needed to prevent sewer gases from entering buildings, but because this water is exposed to the air, it is subject to evaporation over time in infrequently used floor drains, leading to the release of sewer gas into the environment. The trap primer mitigates this problem by injecting water, either directly or indirectly, into the trap to maintain the water seal indefinitely. Building codes may require trap primers for traps in certain locations or situations, usually those in which industry experience has shown that they are likely to dry out. A primer is a short, single-stranded nucleic acid used by all living organisms in the initiation of DNA synthesis. A synthetic primer is a type of oligo, short for oligonucleotide. DNA polymerases (responsible for DNA replication) are only capable of adding nucleotides to the 3’-end of an existing nucleic acid, requiring a primer be bound to the template before DNA polymerase can begin a complementary strand. DNA polymerase adds nucleotides after binding to the RNA primer and synthesizes the whole strand. Later, the RNA strands must be removed accurately and replaced with DNA nucleotides. This forms a gap region known as a nick that is filled in using a ligase. Google Primer was a free mobile application by Google, designed to teach digital marketing and business skills to small and medium business owners, startups, and job seekers using 5-minute interactive lessons. It was a part of Google's Grow with Google and Digital Unlocked initiatives. Primer officially debuted in the United States on September 15, 2015, and was previously available in Latin America, Indonesia, India, Canada, and Australia. On May 17, 2018, Google Primer underwent a redesign to make it more accessible to all users and to provide new lesson content on accessibility. As of 2023 the Google Primer app has been discontinued and removed from the app stores, and the URL for the app's former website, yourprimer.com, now redirects to the Grow With Google website homepage. Sylvester Primer
Sylvester Primer (1842–1912) was an American linguist and philologist known for his pioneering work in 1887 on the dialect of the European-American residents of Charleston, South Carolina. He published language studies in both English and German, and an 1880 work in German was reprinted in 2010. He also published several annotated scholarly editions of important German-language and Spanish-language dramas from the 18th and 19th centuries. He taught for more than 20 years at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also headed the Romance language department as well as a new German-language department. Rudolph Ruzicka (29 June 1883 – 20 July 1978) was a Czech American wood engraver, etcher, illustrator, typeface designer, and book designer. Ruzicka designed typefaces and wood engraving illustrations for Daniel Berkeley Updike's Merrymount Press, and was a designer for, and consultant to, the Mergenthaler Linotype Company for fifty years.
