Presbyterian Senior High School, Akuapim-Mampong
The Presbyterian Senior High School is a Presbyterian coeducational first-cycle institution in Akuapim-Mampong in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is situated northeast of Tutu, close to Mampong Akwapim Senior High/Technical School for the Deaf. The school runs courses in Business, Science, General Arts, General Agriculture, Home Economics and Visual Arts, leading to the award of a West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE). History A community-based institution school that was established in 2002 by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The general objective of its establishment was to provide full secondary school education to the growing number of boys and girls, especially those resident around the Akuapem North and South community. Akuapim-Mampong
Akuapim-Mampong is a town in the Akuapim North district of the Eastern Region of Ghana. It shares boundaries with Mamfe .It is famous for being the first place cocoa was planted in Ghana by Tetteh Quarshie History A 1772 Dutch report included the name Mampo (Mampong) in their records. This indicates that Mampong had been founded before 1772. The name Mampong might have been taken from the Shai village, Mankpon. Another tradition indicated that early settlers, after defeating an invading Asante army moved from an old settlement to a new one – the Damti shrine neighborhood. In jubilation, they uttered the Akan words "Yɛabedu ha yi de, yɛapɔn" Meaning, so far so good! Constant use of that phrase evolved to become Mampong. Akuapim South District
Akuapim South District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger and first Akuapim South District in 1988, which it was created from the former Akuapim District Council; until it was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Akuapim South Municipal District, with Nsawam as its capital town. However on 6 February 2012, the northeast part of the district was split off to create a new Akuapim South District, with Aburi as its capital town; thus the remaining part has been renamed as Nsawam Adoagyire Municipal District, with Nsawam as its capital town. Before the arrival of European settlers, who introduced a formal education system addressed to the elites, education in Ghana was mainly informal and based on apprenticeship. Economic activities in pre-colonial Ghana were based on farm produce shared within households and members of each household specialized in providing necessities such as cooking utilities, shelter, clothing, and furniture, and trade with other households was therefore practiced on a very small scale.
