Preben Møller Hansen
Preben Møller Hansen (September 6, 1929 – September 11, 2008) was a Danish politician, trade unionist, writer and cook. As chairman of (the Danish Seamen's Union), he earned the nickname ('the Sailors' Boss') in Denmark and was well known for his populism, populist manners, including frequent swearing and anti-elitism, anti-elitist remarks. Life and work Preben Møller Hansen was born in Brønshøj into a religious family. His father was a Sexton (office), sexton and his mother wished for Preben to become a priest, but he believed religion to be superstition and became a sailor. He first joined with an East Asiatic Company, EAC ship at the age of 16. During the strikes of 1956, seasoned Union representative, stewards Jakob Rasmussen and Svend Petersen put him in charge of a sailor's strike. National Union Of Commercial And Clerical Employees
HK Denmark (), is a Danish trade union representing clerical workers, workers in retail, and in related industries. The union was founded in 1900, as the Central Organisation of Danish Trade and Office Aid Associations, later becoming the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark. In 1932, it affiliated to the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions (LO). By 1975, the union had 155,000 members, and this grew steadily, peaking at 360,000 members in 1999. From 1990 until 2004, it was the largest union in Denmark. In 2000, the Graphics Federation and the Railway Association both joined HK. The union's membership had since fallen, and as of 2018, it had 179,262 members, making it the second-largest union in the country.
