Orissa High Court
The Orissa High Court is the High Courts of India, High Court for the Indian States and union territories of India, state of Odisha. The then Bengal Presidency was a vast province including present day Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Administrative exigencies required separation of such areas which originally did not form part of Bengal. So, the new province of Bihar and Odisha was formed on 22 March 1912. However, the said new province of Bihar and Odisha was under the jurisdiction of the Calcutta High Court. On 9 February 1916, in exercise of the powers under Section 113 of the Government of India Act 1915, Government of India Act, 1915, the King of the United Kingdom issued letters of patent constituting the Patna High Court, High Court of Patna. As such it is a concept of human rights law, international law as well as constitutional law, particularly used for claims of popular sovereignty. In contrast, a people is any plurality of persons considered as a whole. Used in politics and law, the term "a people" refers to the collective or community of an ethnic group or nation.
