Jesus music, known as gospel beat music in the United Kingdom, is a style of Christian music that originated on the West Coast of the United States in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Joystrings
The Joystrings (originally credited as The Joy Strings) were a 1960s British Christian music group led by classically trained keyboard player and singer Joy Webb, who was an officer in the Salvation Army. History After appearing on Cliff Michelmore's BBC ''Tonight'' television show, they were given a recording contract by EMI Records. In 1964, they became the first Salvation Army pop group to achieve chart success with "It's An Open Secret" and "A Starry Night". The main members through the years were Joy Webb (who wrote the group's first hit), Peter and Sylvia Dalziel, Bill Davidson, and Wycliffe Noble. Delirious?
Delirious? (formerly known as The Cutting Edge Band) were an English contemporary Christian band. For the majority of their career, the lineup featured Martin Smith on vocals and guitar, Stu G (full name Stuart Garrard) on guitar and backing vocals, Jon Thatcher on bass guitar, Tim Jupp on keys and piano, and Stew Smith on drums and percussion. Paul Evans took over as drummer for the band's final two years. Delirious?' 1994 song " I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" has been called a "modern worship classic". The label is distributed by Capitol Christian Music Group, a division of Universal Music Group, Universal Music. "Shout to the Lord" is a praise and worship song written by Christian worship leader Darlene Zschech in 1993. A popular worship power ballad, it was published by Hillsong Music Australia. On 9 April 2008, "Shout to the Lord" was the closing song on ''Idol Gives Back'', sung by the remaining eight contestants of ''American Idol'' and a gospel choir. The lyrics of the song were altered, changing the word "Jesus" to "Shepherd" in the first line, without the approval of Zschech or Hillsong Church. At the request of the song's publishers, the song was performed again at the opening of the next show the following night, this time using the original lyrics. The Jubilate Group is a Christian publishing house that administers copyright for more than sixty composers and writers. The group was founded by Michael Baughen in the 1960s. The group's first production was '' Youth Praise''. In 1982, Jubilate published '' Hymns for Today's Church'', one of the first hymn books with completely modernised language.
