Prairiewood is a suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia 34 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Fairfield. It is part of the Greater Western Sydney region. Prairiewood is primarily a residential suburb that is also home to a golf course, Fairfield Showground, schools, a leisure centre and a major shopping centre. History Prairiewood was once a part of Wetherill Park. The area was subdivided and developed in the 1970s as Prairiewood Estate. Electoral District Of Prospect
Prospect is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. An urban electorate in western Sydney, it is centred on the suburb of Prospect from which it takes its name. It also includes the suburbs of Arndell Park, Bossley Park, Bungarribee, Girraween, Huntingwood, Pemulwuy, Prairiewood, Wetherill Park, as well as parts of Blacktown, Eastern Creek, Greystanes, Pendle Hill and Smithfield. Prospect is represented by Hugh McDermott of the Labor Party. Prospect was created as a result of the 2013 redistribution and largely replaced the abolished electorate of Smithfield. Fairfield is a western suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Being in the centre of the Cumberland Plain, Fairfield is located west of the Sydney central business district and is the administrative heart of the Fairfield City Council (local government area) – despite a very small portion of it belonging to the Cumberland Council. Fairfield supports a mixture of commercial and residential developments, mostly characterised by medium-density buildings and some new high-rise apartments. The Fairfield Hospital is a district hospital located in Prairiewood, a western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Located in the City of Fairfield, it has about 200 beds and provides general medical, physiotherapy, general surgical, obstetric, paediatric, emergency, ambulatory care, and drug health services. Stockland Wetherill Park (known as “Stockies” to locals) is a shopping mall in Wetherill Park, Sydney, Australia. Fairfield Showground
Fairfield Showground is a multi-purpose indoor-outdoor venue situated in Prairiewood, New South Wales, Australia. Since in the 1970s, it has been a popular venue for multicultural festivals, horse racing, carnivals, markets and club meets attracting as many as 20,000 people. Situated in western Sydney, the showground has around 10,000 sqm of undercover exhibition space and it is overall 33 hectares (79 acres) in size, with parking spaces for over 600 vehicles. One of the largest festival precinct in Greater Western Sydney, the showground was developed in the 1950s and is surrounded by eucalyptus bushland, with Orphan School Creek meandering on the north.
