Prag Cine Awards are presented annually by Prag News & Rengoni, a satellite television channel from Assam. The aim of the award to give support, recognition and inspiration to the Assamese film industry and honour some of the eminent film personalities who have contributed to the cause of Assamese cinema of Assam. The award was first instituted in the year 2003. Dibrugarh
Dibrugarh () is a city in the Indian state of Assam, located 435 kms east of the state capital Dispur. It serves as the headquarters of the Dibrugarh district in Upper Assam. Dibrugarh also serves as the headquarters of the Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, which is the governing council of the Sonowal Kachari tribe (found predominantly in the district). Ravi Sarma
Ravi Sarma is an Indian actor who works in the Assamese cinema. He has starred in films like '' Hiya Diya Niya'', '' Tumi Aahibaane'', ''Nayak'', '' Sri Raghupati'' etc. His film Rudra has not garnered the same level of audience attention as his previous film Sri Raghupati, despite extensive publicity and advertising efforts. Career Ravi Sarma's debut Assamese film was '' Hiya Diya Niya'' (2000) directed by Munin Barua. He then went on acting in '' Tumi Aahibaane'' (2017) directed by Prerana Barbarooah, '' Poley Poley Urey Mon'' (2011) directed by Timothy Das, '' Sri Raghupati'' (2023) directed by Suvrat Kakoti etc. He has also acted in many mobile theatres of Assam. Aribam Syam Sharma
Aribam Syam Sharma is an Indian filmmaker and composer from Manipur. He debuted in the first Manipuri film '' Matamgi Manipur'' as an actor. In 1974, he directed his first movie '' Lamja Parshuram''. It became the first Manipuri film to run for 100 days in the box office. His 1979 film '' Olangthagee Wangmadasoo'' was the first ever and the only Manipuri film to run for 32 weeks. It also broke the local box office records of ''Sholay''. His fourth film as a director, ''Imagi Ningthem'' (My Son, My precious) brought him international recognition when the film received the ''Montgolfiere d' Or'' at the ''Festival of Three Continents'', Nantes in 1982. Gauhati Medical College And Hospital
The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, the second medical college to be established in Assam, is also a health care institution. It provides medical education at undergraduate, postgraduate and superspecialty level. History Dr. John Berry White, MRCS, a British surgeon of the East India Company, was the pioneer of health education and health care in Assam. Munin Barua
Munin Barua (5 November 1946 – 7 April 2018) popularly known as ''Bhaimon Da'' was an Indian film director in Assamese cinema industry. Among his best-known films are ''Pita-Putro'', ''Prabhati Pokhir Gaan'', '' Hiya Diya Niya'', ''Daag'', '' Nayak'' and ''Bidhata''. Barua is widely regarded in Assam to have been one of the directors who helped popularize and establish Assamese cinema outside the state, primarily elsewhere in India where other industries had historically dominated. In 2000, his film ''Hiya Diya Niya'' became a first 'blockbuster hit' in Assamese cinema, which helped to revive the Assamese film industry.
