Pradeep Sarkar
Pradeep Sarkar (30 April 1955 – 24 March 2023) was an Indian director and screenwriter, best known for directing ''Parineeta (2005 film), Parineeta'' (2005). Personal life Sarkar was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, on 30 April 1955. He was a recipient of the Abby Award, Rapa Award, and the National Film Award. He attended Delhi College of Art and graduated with a gold medal in 1979. After a 17-year stint in mainstream advertising as a creative director, he started directing advertisement films within the advertising circles of Delhi. Sarkar was married to Panchali Sarkar, and they have a son, Ronit Sarkar, known as indie musician Rono (musician), Rono. Sarkar died at the age of 67. Sarkar was on dialysis when he died on 24 March 2023 at Lilavati hospital in Bandra, Mumbai. Career Sarkar's production house shot commercials for clients such as Tata Yellow Pages, ICICI Prudential, and Onida KY Thunder. ''Memories in March'' is a 2010 Indian drama film directed by Sanjoy Nag. The film stars Deepti Naval, Rituparno Ghosh, and Raima Sen. The film is an effective exploration of a situation wherein a bereaved mother comes to terms with her late son's sexual identity. The film was released on 1 Apr 2011. Plot Delhi-based Arati Mishra believed her worst day was when she was divorced from her U.S.-based husband, Suresh, until she got the news that her Kolkata-based son, Siddhartha, had been killed in a traffic accident. She travels to Kolkata; is received at the airport by her son's co-worker, Sahana Choudhury, and accompanies her to the crematorium. After the cremation, she is then taken to the guesthouse where her son used to live and told that Siddhartha had been at a party, had not only consumed considerable alcohol but had also insisted on driving, and met with a fatal accident.
