Pradeep Kumar
Pradeep Kumar (4 January 1925 – 27 October 2001) was an Indian actor who is recognized for his work in Hindi, Punjabi and English-language films. He started his film career in Bengali films. His notable roles in Bengali films were in ''Alaknanda'' (1947), directed by renowned filmmaker Debaki Bose, and in ''42'' (1951). Pradeep Kumar Batabayal then shifted to Bombay and Filmistan studios, and had an important role in the film '' Anand Math'' (1952). He played the lead role with Bina Rai in ''Anarkali'' (1953) and with Vyjayanthimala in ''Nagin'' (1954). Both films were very popular and had songs that added to the movies' success. ''Anarkali'' is a 1953 Indian historical drama film, directed by Nandlal Jaswantlal, and written by Nasir Hussain and Hameed Butt, based on the historical legend of the Mughal emperor Jahangir (Salim). As per the legend, Jahangir revolted against his father Akbar over his love for a common girl called Anarkali. It was the top grossing Hindi film in the year of its release - 1953. Meena Kumari
Meena Kumari (born Mahjabeen Bano; 1 August 1933 – 31 March 1972) was an Indian actress and poet, who worked in Hindi films. Known as "The Tragedy Queen", she is regarded among the finest and greatest actresses in the history of Indian cinema. ''Aarti'' is a 1962 Indian Hindi-language film directed by Phani Majumdar and produced by Tarachand Barjatya. Ghoonghat
A ghoonghat (''ghunghat'', ''ghunghta'', ''ghomta'', ''orhni'', ''odani'', ''laaj'', ''chunari'', ''jhund'', ''kundh'') is a headcovering or headscarf, worn primarily in the Indian subcontinent, by some married Hindu, Jain, and Sikh women to cover their heads, and often their faces. Generally ''aanchal'' or ''pallu'', the loose end of a sari is pulled over the head and face to act as a ghoonghat. A '' dupatta'' (long scarf) is also commonly used as a ghoongat. Since the ancient period of India, certain veiling practices (what became known as ghoonghat) has been partially practiced among a section of women.
