Poșta Veche is a neighborhood in the Rîșcani sector of Chișinău, the capital of the Republic of Moldova. The main routes in the area are Calea Orheiului Street and Ceucari Street. The northwestern edge of the quarter, which also marks the urban boundary of Chișinău, is defined by the M21 highway. History The quarter of Poșta Veche was founded on the site of a village of the same name in the early 19th century. It was named after an old post office located on the outskirts of Chișinău, near Orhei Orhei (), also formerly known as Orgeev (), is a city, municipality and the administrative centre of Orhei District in the Moldova, Republic of Moldova, with a population of 21,065. Sectorul Rîșcani
Sectorul Rîșcani (, also spelled ''Râșcani'') is one of the five sectors in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova. The local administration is managed by a pretor appointed by the city administration. It governs over a portion of the city of Chișinău itself (the northeastern part), the town of Cricova, and the communes of Ciorescu, Grătiești, and Stăuceni. The name of the sector comes from the name of the former eponymous village. It has a sizable population of Russians and Ukrainians. To distinguish it from the city of Rîșcani elsewhere in Moldova it is often referred to as Rîșcanovca by locals. Rîșcani‘s main street is Bulevardul Moscova. There are several parks including a park dedicated to the Soviet victims of the Afghanistan war in 1989. Chișinău ( , , ; formerly known as Kishinev) is the Capital city, capital and List of cities and towns in Moldova, largest city of Moldova. M21 Highway (Moldova)
The M21 highway () was a road in Moldova, which linked Chișinău to the border with Ukraine near Dubău via Dubăsari. It was long, and formed part of the European route E584 of the International E-road network. Furthermore, it also shared a small segment with the E58 and E581 north-west of Chișinău. In 2016, a government decision decommissioned the M21 and integrated the entirety of the route into the M1 highway. Route description The M21 highway began at an intersection with the R1 road west of the capital city of Chișinău. Heading north-east, it then met with the M2, M14 (now dubbed " M5") and R4. This was the northern terminus of the M21's interference with the E58 and E581 and the southern terminus of the interference with the European route E584. Between Chișinău and Dubăsari, the road doubled the republican road R4, which has its eastern terminus near Criuleni. Orhei
Orhei (), also formerly known as Orgeev (), is a city, municipality and the administrative centre of Orhei District in the Moldova, Republic of Moldova, with a population of 21,065. Orhei is approximately north of the capital, Chișinău. History Orhei takes its name from the Hungarian Őrhely, , as it was an outpost of the Hungarian army guarding the ''gyepű''. It was the Ottoman-occupied military center of northern Bessarabia until it was ceded to the Russian Empire in 1812. The word "orhei" was used by local population, meaning "strengthened hill, fortress, deserted courtyard". The name "Orhei" is derived from the Hungarian language, Hungarian word Őrhely or Várhely, the earlier meaning "lookout post", dating from the 13th century, when Hungarian forces built a series of defences in the area.
