''Pocho Aztlan'' is the fourth studio album by American extreme metal band Brujeria, released on September 16, 2016 through Nuclear Blast. This is the first full-length studio album by Brujeria since '' Brujerizmo'', marking the longest gap between the band's studio albums. It is also the first release featuring El Cynico, El Sangrón and Cuernito. ''Pocho Aztlan'' marks the return of their older grindcore sound from early releases, like '' Matando Güeros'', while maintaining the groove-oriented sound the band explored in ''Brujerizmo''. Brujeria () is an American extreme metal band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989. The band has Spanish lyrics with topics such as Theistic Satanism, Satanism, Anti-Christian sentiment, anti-Christianity, sex, immigration, narcotics smuggling, and politics. Brujeria portrays Mexico, Mexican imagery, with several members being Hispanic and Latino Americans, while the band's name stands for ''brujería'' (Spanish for "witchcraft"). Brujeria alumni include Raymond Herrera, as well as Billy Gould, Nick Barker (drummer), Nick Barker, Jeff Walker (musician), Jeff Walker and Shane Embury. They perform under pseudonyms and portray themselves as a Latino band consisting of drug lords, concealing their identities due to being wanted by the FBI. Matando Güeros
''Matando Güeros'' (Killing Whites) is the debut album by the band Brujeria. "Güero" is a Mexican-Spanish slang term for a blonde or light skinned/haired person. The album talks mostly about controversial topics in Mexico like drug trafficking, satanic rituals, sexuality, migration, illegal border crossing, and Anti-Americanism (like the title song, that talks about a revenge killing-spree against the White Americans that mistreated the indigenous Mexican narrator). Album information The front cover depicts a person out of shot holding up a severed head, which was taken from Mexican Shocking and Sensationalistic/ Yellow journalistic newspaper ''¡Peligro!'' The album was banned in many places due to its cover and content. This head, nicknamed "Coco Loco", has been taken by the band as a mascot and logo. Adrian Paul Erlandsson (born 27 October 1970) is a Swedish Heavy metal music, heavy metal drummer who is a member of At the Gates (1990–present), The Haunted (Swedish band), The Haunted (1996–1999, 2013–present), and Nemhain (2006–present). He has also been a member of H.E.A.L. Nicholas Howard Barker (born 1973) is an English extreme metal drummer best known for his work in Cradle of Filth from 1993 to 1999, Dimmu Borgir from 1999 to 2004, Brujeria (band), Brujeria from 2003 to 2005 and from 2016 to 2022, and Shining (Swedish band), Shining from 2022 to 2023. Currently he is the drummer for Borstal, Liquid Graveyard, Twilight of the Gods, and United Forces. Biography Barker was born on 25 April 1973. His career started as a touring drum tech for Cancer_(band), Cancer, for whom he filled in on drums at live shows when Carl Stokes suffered an injury in 1993. He joined Cradle of Filth as a full time member later in 1993 replacing Was Sarginson and playing on the first four albums.
