Poccistraße Station
Poccistraße is an U-Bahn station in Munich on the U3 and U6. It was named after Count Franz Pocci. History The station was opened on May 28, 1978, three years after the rest of the line. It wasn't built with the rest of the line, as a city highway was planned for the space where the surface entrances would have been. After the scrapping of the highway plans, it was built along the operational line with the trains going slower through the construction zone. The station had been in the original plans marked as possible later construction. The original project name was "Zenettistrasse". Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt (Central Bavarian: ''Ludwigsvorstod-Isarvorstod'') is one of the boroughs of Munich, Germany. It consists of the districts Ludwigsvorstadt, located south of Munich Hauptbahnhof and east of the Theresienwiese, and Isarvorstadt, which is north-west of the River Isar and southeast of Munich's Altstadt-Lehel, Old Town. The Lindwurmstraße serves as a divider for the two districts. The population is estimated to be 54,049, according to the 2015 census. The ''Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft'' (MVG; Munich Transport Company) is a municipally owned company responsible for operating public transport in Munich, Germany. Stammstrecke 1 (U-Bahn Munich)
The Stammstrecke 1 of the Munich U-Bahn is the first, of a total of three realized main routes, in the Rapid transit, subway network of the Bavarian capital Munich. It runs mainly in north–south direction and is currently used by the two subway lines, the Munich U-Bahn#U3, U3 and Munich U-Bahn#U6, U6. An island platform (also center platform (American English) or centre platform (British English)) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. The Munich U-Bahn () is an Railway electrification system, electric rail Rapid transit, rapid transit network in Munich, Germany. The system began operation in 1971, and is operated by the municipally owned Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG; Munich Transport Company). Count Franz Pocci
Count Franz Graf von Pocci (7 March 1807 – 7 May 1876) was a significant official in the court of King Ludwig the First of Bavaria, best known as the founding director of the Munich Marionette Theatre where he was a shadow puppeteer and wrote countless puppet plays and children's stories. Pocci, in collaboration with Josef Schmid, founded the Munich Marionette Theatre in Munich, Bavaria, Germany in 1855. He hired the premises, drew stage curtains and designs, and wrote pieces for the hero of Schmid's shows, Kasperl Larifari, a descendant of Hans Wurst and all the classical comic figures in traditional European puppetry. München Süd Station
München Süd (Munich South station) is a disused railway station and a railway goods station in the Munich borough of Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt. The train services were withdrawn on 1 July 1985. In 2005, the last buildings were demolished to make room for office buildings. The station is located on the South Ring (Südring), connecting Munich Central Station with Munich East. The public transport is now handled by Poccistraße Munich U-Bahn station, located to the west of the old railway station.
