Plzeň Speedway Track
Plzeň speedway track is a motorcycle speedway track in Plzeň, Czech Republic. It is located on the Dobřanská road, off the Univerzitní road. The speedway club PK Plzeň is based at the track. History The track was constructed during the beginning of 1959 and was completed in 1960. The opening fixture was a match between Plzeň and RH Prague on 17 July 1960. The venue has hosted major speedway events, including the qualifying rounds of the 1960 Speedway World Team Cup, which attracted over 10,000 spectators and the 1961 Speedway World Team Cup 1961 Speedway World Team Cup was the second edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Plochodrážní klub v AČR Plzeň is a Czech motorcycle speedway team based in Plzeň, Czech Republic. The team race at the Plzeň speedway track. History The team competed in the inaugural Czechoslovak Team Speedway Championship during 1956, finishing third in the league. 1960 Speedway World Team Cup
1960 Speedway World Team Cup was the first edition of the FIM Speedway World Team Cup to determine the team world champions. The final took place in Gothenburg, Sweden. The World Champion title was won by Sweden team (44 pts) who beat England (30 pts), Czechoslovakia (15 pts) and Poland (7 pts). Sweden's reigning World Champion Ove Fundin went through the entire World Team Cup undefeated. This feat would not be matched until Australia's Jason Crump went through the 2001 Speedway World Cup undefeated. To honour Fundin's deeds in 1960, the winners of the current Speedway World Cup (which replaced the Team World Cup in 2001) receive the Ove Fundin Trophy. 2015 Team Speedway Junior European Championship
The 2015 Team Speedway Junior European Championship was the eighth Team Speedway Junior European Championship season. It was organised by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme and was the fourth as an under 21 years of age event. The final took place on 12 September 2015 in Plzeň, Czech Republic.
