Plechová Kavalérie
Plechová kavalérie (English: "Steel Cavalry") is a Czechoslovak television series about combine operators, created by Jaroslav Dietl and directed by Jaroslav Dudek. Background Before 1989, many farms in Czechoslovakia did not have enough combine harvesters for the harvest season. They borrowed them from STS (''Strojní a Traktorová Stanice''), the "Machine and Tractor Station". A route was planned, and the groups of combine harvesters started in the east and harvested farms on the way home. This is the story of one of those groups, from Nepomuk in the Plzeň Region. Jaroslav Dietl
Jaroslav Dietl (22 May 1929 – 29 June 1985) was a Czech television series writer, film and television screenwriter, and playwright working mainly during the Normalization period. He is known for such works as the coming-of-age drama '' Inženýrská odysea''. Life Dietl was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1929. In less than four years, however, he moved with his Czech parents and two sisters first to Borovany, and later to Brno. There, he attended primary school and in 1940–1944, he was a student at a grammar school in Brno. From there, he went to a textile industrial school, from which he graduated in 1949. Following this, Dietl studied at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno for a year, then worked as an apprentice teacher, also in Brno. He decided to leave Brno for Prague after getting a job at the Ministry of Social Welfare. S, or s, is the nineteenth letter of the Latin alphabet, used in the English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and other latin alphabets worldwide. Its name in English is ''ess'' (pronounced ), plural ''esses''. History Northwest Semitic šîn represented a voiceless postalveolar fricative (as in 'ip'). It originated most likely as a pictogram of a tooth () and represented the phoneme via the acrophonic principle. Ancient Greek did not have a "sh" phoneme, so the derived Greek letter Sigma () came to represent the voiceless alveolar sibilant . While the letter shape Σ continues Phoenician ''šîn'', its name ''sigma'' is taken from the letter ''Samekh'', while the shape and position of ''samekh'' but name of ''šîn'' is continued in the '' xi''.
