Calle Marqués De Larios
Calle Marqués de Larios, also known simply as Calle Larios, is a pedestrian and shopping street in Málaga, Spain. The street was inaugurated on 27 August 1891. It is the most expensive street to live on in Málaga, and the eleventh most expensive to live on in all of Spain. History Construction On 1 May 1880, a corporation was formed by the local government of Málaga to fund the construction of the street. The company needed to raise 1 million Spanish peseta, pesetas, and sold 40 shares of 25,000 pesetas each. A majority of shares were purchased by the Larios family. The street was initially designed by architect José María Sancha. Further changes to the design were later made by Manuel Rivera. In 1887, the responsibility for the project was taken on by the Larios family. The street was named after Manuel Domingo Larios y Larios, the 2nd Marquess of Larios. Feria De Málaga
The Feria de Agosto ("August Fair") or Feria de Málaga ("Málaga Fair") is a street fair that takes place every August in the city of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. History The Feria de Agosto commemorates the taking of the city by the Catholic Monarchs (Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon) on 18 August 1487 (five years before the completion of the ''Reconquista''), at which time Málaga was incorporated into the Crown of Castile. The Catholic Monarchs gave the city the religious statue of the ''Virgen de la Victoria'' ("Virgin of Victory"). The recently formed city government began a tradition of commemorating the taking of the city. The first such celebration took place in the form of a procession on the Feast Day of the Assumption, 15 August 1491. The following year the celebration was shifted to 18 August, the feast day of Louis of Toulouse, Saint Louis. That year there was a procession and a bullfighting, bullfight with four bulls.
