Platform (Mali)
The Platform of the Movements of 14 June 2014 in Algiers (), also called the Platform of Self-Defense Movements and colloquially known as Platform, is an alliance of pro-government armed groups during the Mali War formed during peace negotiations on June 14, 2014, in Algiers. Platform joined the Coordination of Azawad Movements in the Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security, and Development (CSP-PSD) in May 2021, then withdrew in September 2023. Permanent Strategic Framework For Peace, Security, And Development
The Strategic Framework for the Defense of the People of Azawad (; CSP-DPA) is a coalition of political and military movements in northern Mali that was formed on 6 May 2021, as an alliance of the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) and Platform. In September 2023, Platform left the CSP-PSD due to the CMA's war with the Malian government. In April 2024, the CSP-DPA was renamed from the Permanent Strategic Framework for Peace, Security, and Development (; CSP-PSD). History Throughout the 2010s, there were brief clashes between the CMA and Platform, so the two groups began talks in late 2020 on reconciling their differences over the Algiers Agreement of 2015. Ganda Iso
Ganda Iso, or Ganda Izo, meaning "Sons of Land", is a paramilitary group which emerged in Northern Mali in the early 21st century and has been active during the 2012 Northern Mali Conflict. Formation The Ganda Koy movement was founded in May 1994, by Seydou Cissé, as a response to rising tensions between Tuaregs and sedentary black tribes of the Gao Region, in northern Mali. Ganda Koy fighters were recruited among Songhai, Bambara, Fulani, Bozo and Tuareg-Bella tribesmen. Ganda Koy immediately rejected the “National Pact” for peace signed in April 1992.The movement then embraced a racist anti-Tuareg ideology, in response to what it perceived as Tuareg oppression. The Popular Movement for the Salvation of Azawad (Mouvement populaire pour le salut de l'Azawad) or MPSA is an armed group active in northern Mali. It was founded on August 26, 2014, following a split from the Arab Movement of Azawad. History and objectives The MPSA was founded on August 26, 2014, during talks between the Malian government and Tuareg armed groups leading up to the Algiers Accords. The MPSA was accepted into negotiations during the second round of talks. The MPSA claims to abide by Malian law, and presents itself as a political group instead of an armed group. The MPSA also states that it does not seek independence for Azawad, although it does want autonomy within Mali.
