''Plasma'' (stylized in all uppercase) is the seventh studio album by Japanese girl group Perfume, released on July 27, 2022, by Universal Music Japan sub-label Universal J and its imprint Perfume Records. The album consists of twelve tracks: five singles and their B-sides released between November 2019 and April 2022, plus four new tracks. Background After the release of the group's third compilation album '' Perfume the Best: P Cubed'' and embarking on their concert tour ''Reframe'' in 2019, Perfume released a digital single titled "Saisei" on November 29, 2019. Perfume (Japanese Band)
is a Japanese girl group#Emergence of Asian dance-pop girl groups, girl group consisting of Ayano Ōmoto, Nocchi, Yuka Kashino, Kashiyuka, and Ayaka Nishiwaki, A-chan. , literally ''Everyone's Songs'' ( English title: ''Songs for Everyone''), is a five-minute NHK TV and radio program which is broadcast several times daily in Japan. The program started on April 3, 1961. It is one of NHK's long-running programs. The program is generally used as filler between programs. Funk Music
Funk is a music genre that originated in African-American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African-Americans in the mid-20th century. It deemphasizes melody and chord progressions and focuses on a strong rhythmic groove (music), groove of a bassline played by an electric bassist and a drum part played by a drum kit, percussionist, often at slower tempos than other popular music. Funk typically consists of a complex percussive groove with Rhythm section, rhythm instruments playing interlocking grooves that create a "hypnotic" and "danceable" feel. City Pop
is a loosely defined form of Japanese pop music that emerged in the late 1970s and peaked in popularity during the 1980s. It was originally termed as an offshoot of Japan's Western-influenced " new music", but came to include a wide range of styles – including funk, disco, R&B, AOR, soft rock, and boogie – that were associated with the country's nascent economic boom and leisure class. It was also identified with (at the time) new technologies such as the Walkman, cars with built-in cassette decks and FM stereos, and various electronic musical instruments. There is no unified consensus among scholars regarding the definition of city pop. In Japan, the tag simply referred to music that projected an " urban" feel and whose target demographic was urbanites.
