''Araucaria'' (; original pronunciation: [a.ɾawˈka. ɾja]) is a genus of evergreen coniferous trees in the family Araucariaceae. While today they are largely confined to the Southern Hemisphere, during the Jurassic and Cretaceous they were globally distributed. There are 20 extant taxon, extant species in New Caledonia (where 14 species are endemism, endemic, see New Caledonian Araucaria, New Caledonian ''Araucaria''), eastern Australia (including Norfolk Island), New Guinea, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay. Piñones State Forest, (in ), and named after the ''Casuarina'', locally called (after an invasive species of salt-tolerant tree from Australia used for lumber), is a timberland forest near one of the longest beaches in Puerto Rico. Battle Of Puerto De Piñones
The Battle of Puerto de Piñones took place during the War of Mexican Independence on 1 April 1811 at Puerto de Piñones, Coahuila. The battle was fought between the royalist forces loyal to the Spanish crown, commanded by José Manuel de Ochoa, and the Mexican rebels fighting for independence from the Spanish Empire, commanded by Ignacio López Rayón. The battle resulted in a victory for the Mexican rebels. This battle was one of many battles that occurred between the armies of Ignacio López Rayón and José Manuel de Ochoa as López Rayón marched to take the industrial city of Zacatecas for the rebel cause. He had begun his march after hearing news of the capture of many of the rebel leaders at Acatita de Baján.
