Piotr Paweł Morta
Piotr Paweł Morta (born 19 June 1959 in Wieluń) is a Polish political activist, dissident, economist, co-inventor, activist in underground "Solidarity", Krajowy Mistrz Racjonalizacji 1983 (Polish master of rationalization in 1983), and vice-chairman of European Works Council Pfleiderer AG. Life Education He is an alumnus of the Poznań University of Economics and Business (then: Academy of Economics in Poznań). He studied management and marketing there. Political career In 1989 he created the Solidarity Citizens' Committee in Wieruszów. He was a member of City Council Board of Managers in years 1990-1994. Solidarity (Polish Trade Union)
Solidarity ( pl, „Solidarność”, ), full name Independent Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarity" (, abbreviated ''NSZZ „Solidarność”'' ), is a Polish trade union founded in August 1980 at the Lenin Shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland. Subsequently, it was the first independent trade union in a Warsaw Pact country to be recognised by the state. The union's membership peaked at 10 million in September 1981, representing one-third of the country's working-age population. Solidarity's leader Lech Wałęsa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1983 and the union is widely recognised as having played a central role in the end of Communist rule in Poland. Wieruszów
Wieruszów (; german: Weruschau) is a town in south-central Poland with 8,446 inhabitants (2020). Situated in the southwestern part of Łódź Voivodeship, it is the seat of the Gmina Wieruszów and Wieruszów County. The town is situated along the Prosna river. History Wieruszów was granted town rights, when it was part of Piast-ruled Poland. The town developed in the Late Middle Ages under the patronage of the Polish noble Wierusz family. It was a private town, administratively located in the Sieradz Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Kingdom of Poland.
