Pinewood School, Blackburn
Pinewood School is an additional needs school in Blackburn, West Lothian, Scotland. The school was founded in 1973 and was renovated in 2010/16 and a £5.8 million extension was completed in June 2022. News coverage in 2013, West Lothian Council have been met with strong opposition after a proposal to move primary school students moved from Pinewood to Ogilvie School Campus in Livingston. In 2014, Pupils from Pinewood School showcased their latest project: two short films entitled ‘Over the Top’ and ‘UFO’, at Bathgate’s Regal Theatre. West Lothian Council
West Lothian Council is the local authority for the council area of West Lothian in Scotland. Blackburn, West Lothian
Blackburn is a town in West Lothian, Scotland, near both Bathgate and Livingston, two of the larger towns in the county. It is situated approximately west of Edinburgh and east of Glasgow on the old A8 road. History Blackburn means "the black stream", from the Old English ''blæc'' "black" and ''burna'' "stream". The name was recorded as ''Blachebrine'' in 1152. As a small industrial centre, Blackburn originally developed as a cotton-manufacturing town. In the mid-19th century, it became a centre for coal mining. Its small population expanded rapidly from 4,302 in 1961 to around 9,000 by 1965 as a result of employment opportunities in Bathgate to the north and through in-migration following the inception of the Glasgow Overspill Plan. Reconnect Regal Theatre
Reconnect Regal Theatre is a performance art/ movie theatre located in Bathgate, Scotland. Reconnect The Reconnect Regal is the first project of the "Reconnect Charity(Scio). The former cinema was built in 1938 and has an art-deco-style architecture. Reconnect took over the Regal in 2018 and has since grown its popularity by providing a blend of professional and community programming. The Regal requires modernization and restoration, and therefore, a comprehensive redevelopment plan is being formulated to ensure its stable future. The restoration project includes the reinstatement of the balcony, restoration of the auditorium, opening up of the bar space, and the addition of a fly tower to attract professional touring theatre to the venue.
