Pinch (dubstep Musician)
Rob Ellis, better known as Pinch, is a British dubstep DJ, producer and label manager from Bristol, England. He is known for his fusion of styles such as reggae, World music, and dancehall with dubstep and his roles as founder of the record label Tectonic and co-founder of the club night Subloaded. He released his debut album, ''Underwater Dancehall'' in 2007, via Tectonic. One of Pinch's most well-known tracks is "Qawwali", released on Planet Mu records, which references the devotional singing of the same name, and featured samples of harmonium and singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. His songs appear on compilations such as ''Box of Dub: Dubstep and Future Dub 2'' (Soul Jazz Records), ''Science Faction: Dubstep'' ( Breakbeat Science Recordings), ''10 Tons Heavy'' (Planet Mu) and ''200'' (Planet Mu). Dancehall
Dancehall is a genre of Jamaican popular music that originated in the late 1970s. Shackleton (musician)
Sam Shackleton, better known by his stage name Shackleton, is an English electronic music, electronic producer and founder of the record labels Skull Disco and Woe to the Septic Heart!. History Sam Shackleton was born in Lancashire, England. He participated in various musical projects throughout the years, playing in punk rock, punk bands as a teenager and later performing as part of a dancehall duo with Earl Fontainelle (aka Vengeance Tenfold). He first began producing music on a computer in 2003. Honest Jon's
Honest Jon's is a British independent record shop based on Portobello Road in Ladbroke Grove, London, operating since 1974. The shop is owned and run by Mark Ainley and Alan Scholefield, who took over from one of the original proprietors, "Honest" Jon Clare. Their record label of the same name is run in conjunction with Damon Albarn, who has been quoted as saying: "I don't really like the term world music. Wherever it comes from, it's all just music, isn't it? Hopefully that's what Honest Jon's is about – to open a few minds to what's out there." ''Pinch & Shackleton'' is a collaborative studio album by English electronic musicians Pinch & Shackleton. It was released on Honest Jon's in 2011. It received universal acclaim from critics. Production The album was created in Berlin and Bristol. In a 2012 interview, Pinch recalled, "A lot of synth work. There's nice analogue warmth to it. We use this thing called the Culture Vulture a fair bit – it's a pre amp with a lovely tone, really warms things up. Double Album
A double album (or double record) is an audio album that spans two units of the primary medium in which it is sold, typically either records or compact disc. Dub is a musical style that grew out of reggae in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Adrian Sherwood
Adrian Maxwell Sherwood (born 20 January 1958) is an English record producer specialising in the genre of dub music. He has created a distinctive production style based on the application of dub effects and dub mixing techniques to other forms of electronic dance music and popular music outside of the genre. Adrian has been credited as a pioneer in the emerging genre of ReggaeEDM. He has worked extensively with a variety of reggae artists as well as the musicians Keith LeBlanc, Doug Wimbish and Skip McDonald. Sherwood has remixed tracks by Coldcut, Depeche Mode, The Woodentops, Primal Scream, Pop Will Eat Itself, Sinéad O'Connor, and Skinny Puppy. Breakbeat Science Recordings
Breakbeat Science Recordings was a drum and bass record label and record store of the same name based in Manhattan in New York City, New York; both the label and the store were founded in 1996, and a website was launched in 1997. Breakbeat Science was the first store dedicated to Drum and Bass music in the US, at the time of its opening the scene was still primarily based in the UK. Breakbeat Science moved several times over the years. The first location was on 9th Street and the store later moved to Orchard Street, both in Manhattan's East Village. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (, ; born Pervez Fateh Ali Khan; 13 October 1948 – 16 August 1997), also known by his initials NFAK, was a Pakistani singer, songwriter, and music director.
