Pilot (Gotham)
"Pilot" is the first episode of the television series '' Gotham''. It premiered on FOX on September 22, 2014 and was written by series developer Bruno Heller and directed by Danny Cannon. The episode, and the series as a whole, are based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics in the Batman franchise, primarily those of James Gordon and Bruce Wayne. FOX gave the pilot a straight-to-series order with an order of 16 episodes. The pilot was watched by 8.21 million viewers, a strong number and received generally positive reviews for its acting and plot, but received criticism for its pace and subplots. ''Gotham'' is an American television series developed by Bruno Heller, produced by Warner Bros. Television and based on characters from the Batman mythos in comic books published by DC Comics. The series premiered on Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox on September 22, 2014, and ended on April 25, 2019, after five seasons totalling List of Gotham episodes, 100 episodes. It features an ensemble cast that includes Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon (Gotham), James "Jim" Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock (Gotham), Harvey Bullock, and David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne (Gotham), Bruce Wayne. James "Jim" Gordon is a fictional character adapted for television by screenwriter Bruno Heller. He serves as the main protagonist of the Warner Bros. and DC Comics television series '' Gotham'', portrayed by Ben McKenzie. David Albert Mazouz (; born ) is an American actor, best known for his leading role as Bruce Wayne in Fox's Batman-prequel TV drama '' Gotham'' (2014–2019). Mazouz started his acting career with several guest roles before joining the Fox TV series ''Touch'' (2012–2013), for which he was nominated for a Young Artist Award.
