Pierre Cathala (; 1888 – 1947) was a French politician. He served as the French Minister of Finance from 1942 to 1944. Early life Pierre Cathala was born on 22 September 1888 in Montfort-sur-Meu, Brittany, France. He was educated at the Lycée Saint-Louis, and in Bayonne where he became friends with Pierre Laval Pierre Jean Marie Laval (; 28 June 1883 – 15 October 1945) was a French politician. Montfort-sur-Meu (, literally ''Montfort on Meu''; , before 1993: ''Montfort'') is a Communes of France, commune in the Departments of France, department of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany (administrative region), Brittany in the northwest of France. It is noted as the birthplace of the Roman Catholic Saint Louis de Montfort, who is considered to be the pioneer of the field of Mariology. The saint's birthplace is at 15, Rue de la Saulnerie. It is now jointly owned by the three Montfortian congregations he formed: the Community of the Holy Spirit, the Daughters of Wisdom and the Brothers of Saint Gabriel.
