The Academy Award for Best Production Design recognizes achievement for art direction in film. The category's original name was Best Art Direction, but was changed to its current name in 2012 for the 85th Academy Awards. ''Patton'' is a 1970 American epic biographical war film about U.S. General George S. Patton during World War II. It stars George C. Scott as Patton and Karl Malden as General Omar Bradley, and was directed by Franklin J. Schaffner from a script by Francis Ford Coppola and Edmund H. ''Goya en Burdeos'' ( English: ''Goya in Bordeaux'') is a 1999 Spanish historical drama film written and directed by Carlos Saura about the life of Francisco Goya, the Spanish painter.
