Phước Long, Bình Phước
Phước Long is a District-level town (Vietnam), district-level town in Bình Phước Province, in the Southeast (Vietnam), Southeast region of Vietnam. It was the site of the Battle of Phước Long, a decisive battle during the Vietnam War. The current administrative unit was established in 2009 from part of former Phước Long District, including Thác Mơ township and Phước Bình township. It covers 119.38 km2 and has a population of 81.200 as of 2022.Vietnam Government Web Portal' Bù Gia Mập District was established from the other part of Phước Long District. The town has seven subdivisions, including Long Thủy, Thác Mơ, Sơn Giang, Phước Bình, Long Phước, and the communes of Long Giang and Phước Tín. District-level Town (Vietnam)
A district-level town () is a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam. District-level towns along with urban districts, districts, municipal cities, and provincial cites have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, towns are officially classified into Class-3 or Class-4. The towns may only be a capital of a province, but not of a municipality as the second tier subdivision. At the third tier, towns are divided into wards and communes. Most provincial capitals were once towns, but now most of them have become provincial cities. The Vietnamese government often groups the various provinces and municipalities into three regions: Northern Vietnam, Central Vietnam, and Southern Vietnam. Southeast (Vietnam)
Đông Nam Bộ (literally "Southeast region") is a region in Southern Vietnam. This region includes one municipality, Ho Chi Minh City; and five provinces: Đồng Nai, Bình Dương, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province, Bình Phước and Tây Ninh. The two south central provinces Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận are sometimes seen as part of the Southeast region. This region is the most economically developed region in Vietnam. Battle Of Phước Long
The Battle of Phước Long was a decisive battle of the Vietnam War which began on 12 December 1974, and concluded on 6 January 1975. The battle involved the deployment of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) 4th Army Corps for the first time, against units of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) in Phước Long in Bình Phước Province near the Cambodian border (to be distinguished from the other Phước Long in Bạc Liêu Province, south of Saigon), under the command of Lieutenant General Dư Quốc Đống.
