Phuket (; , , or ''Tongkah'') is one of the Southern Thailand, southern Provinces of Thailand, provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand. Southern Thailand (formerly Southern Siam and Tambralinga) is the southernmost cultural region of Thailand, separated from Central Thailand by the Kra Isthmus. Sarasin Bridge
Sarasin Bridge (, , ) is a bridge in Thailand which connects the island of Phuket with Phang Nga in southern Thailand. It was built in 1951 and officially opened on July 7, 1967. It was the first bridge linking Phuket and Phang Nga, with a total length of and a total budget of 28,770,000 baht. It was named after Pote Sarasin, a former Prime Minister of Thailand, during his time as the Minister of National Development. On February 22, 1973, the bridge was the site of an unforgettable tragedy. Two young lovers, Dam Sae-tan and Kanchana "Gew" Sae-ngo, jumped from the bridge together after they were forbidden from being together. Southern Thai ( ), also known as Dambro ( ), Pak Tai ( ), or "Southern language" ( ), is a Southwestern Tai ethnolinguistic identity and language spoken in southern Thailand, as well as by small communities in the northernmost states of Malaysia. Postal codes in Thailand are five digit numbers. The first two digits of the postal code denote the province or special administrative area (e.g., 43120 Phon Phisai, Nong Khai), while the last 3 digits represent the post office within the province. There are exceptions, for example, Bangkok and Samut Prakan province shared the first two digits 10xxx.
