Philippe Lacarrière
Philippe Lacarrière (born 20 April 1938) is a French former ice hockey player and current ice hockey executive. After representing France at the Ice Hockey World Championships and Winter Olympics, Lacarrière joined the French Federation of Ice Sports and became an executive member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). In 2011, he was inducted into the French Ice Hockey Hall of Fame and in 2018, he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame for his work with the French International Ice Hockey committee. Lacarrière and his father, Jacques Lacarrière (ice hockey), Jacques, became the second father-son pair to be inducted into the List of members of the IIHF Hall of Fame, IIHF Hall of Fame. 1961 Ice Hockey World Championships
The 1961 Ice Hockey World Championships was the 28th edition of the Ice Hockey World Championships. The tournament was held in Geneva and Lausanne, Switzerland from 1 to 12 March 1961. The games were played outdoors on a frozen pool. A glare made it hard for players to see well, however photographers were able to get aerial pictures from the diving board. Canada, represented by the Trail Smoke Eaters, won their nineteenth international title. It would be 33 years before Canada won another World Championship. By beating out the Soviets for the Silver, the Czechoslovaks won their tenth European title. The French men's national under 20 ice hockey team is the national under-20 ice hockey team in France. The team represents France at the International Ice Hockey Federation's IIHF World U20 Championship's IIHF World Junior Championship, World Junior Hockey Championship Division I. FFHG Division 2 (Fédération Française de Hockey sur Glace Division 2 or French Ice Hockey Federation Division 2) is an amateur ice hockey league in France. It is the third of four levels of national ice hockey in France. The teams that end at the bottom of the table get relegated to FFHG Division 3 while the top get promoted to FFHG Division 1.
