Philippe Béha
Philippe Béha (born 1950) is a French Canadian children's book writer and illustrator living in Quebec. He was born in Casablanca to french parents, studied at the and came to Quebec in 1976. He worked as a freelance visual designer for Radio-Canada before becoming a full-time illustrator. Béha has illustrated more than 180 children's books. In 1982, he was awarded the Prix Communication-Jeunesse for best illustration in the professional illustrator category. He was a finalist for the Prix du livre jeunesse des Bibliothèques de Montréal in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (), branded as CBC/Radio-Canada, is the Canadian Public broadcasting, public broadcaster for both radio and television. Prix Du Livre Jeunesse Des Bibliothèques De Montréal
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous for its use of banjo. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978. Its only live performance came at a CBS Records showcase in 1976. In 1977, just as Ork Records released the first single and booked the group at CBGB, Prix broke up due both to Hoehn's unwillingness to remain in New York and to creative differences. Governor General's Award For French-language Children's Illustration
The Governor General's Award for French-language children's illustration is a Canadian literary award that annually recognizes one Canadian illustrator for a children's book written in French. It is one of four children's book awards among the Governor General's Awards for Literary Merit, one each for writers and illustrators of English- and French-language books. The Governor General's Awards program is administered by the Canada Council. In name, this award is part of the Governor General's Award program only from 1987 but the four children's literature awards were established in 1975 under a Canada Council name. In the event, the "Canada Council" and "Governor General's" awards have recognized children's book illustration in a French-language children's book every year from 1977. Henriette Major
Henriette Major (January 6, 1933 – November 17, 2006) was a Canadian writer living in Quebec. She was born in Montreal and studied at the Institut pédagogique de Montréal. However, she soon discovered that she did not want to be a teacher. After becoming a mother, she began writing down stories that she told to her children so that she would remember them. She tried other occupations, including working as a researcher for radio and television, but finally decided to make a career of writing. Major wrote scripts for several television series, including ' and ' and two plays for Théâtre sans fil: ''Jeux de rêves'' and ''La couronne du destin''. She published almost a thousand articles for various magazines, including ''Châtelaine'' and ''Maclean's'', and about a hundred children's books in Quebec and France.
