Pećani
Pećani ( sr-cyr, Пећани) is an List of Belgrade neighborhoods, urban settlement of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in the municipality of Čukarica. Pećani is located 3 km south of Ostružnica, in central part of the Čukarica municipality. It is the second least populated settlement in the municipality, with a population of 562 as of 2011 census, and despite being small and depopulating (population of 632 in 1991), it is statistically classified as an urban settlement (town). There are two karstic caves near the town, called Donja Pećina and Gornja Pećina ("upper cave" and "lower cave"). In July 2023 city announced plans for massive urbanization of the Velika Moštanica-Pećani area, which would triple their combined population to 9,750. Čukarica
Čukarica ( sr-cyr, Чукарица, ) is a Subdivisions of Belgrade, municipality of the city of Belgrade, Serbia. Name Like several other neighborhoods of Belgrade, Čukarica was named after a kafana. At the present location of the Sugar Refinery in Čukarica, Sugar Refinery, there was a kafana in the second half of the 19th century. It was very popular as it was located at the point where two roads, one from Obrenovac and other from Šumadija, meet at the entrance to Belgrade. It was owned by Stojko Čukar and the kafana was named “Čukareva kafana” after him, which later gave name to the settlement. History The village of Čukarica asked to be transferred to the Belgrade municipality in 1906, but the plea was rejected. Velika Moštanica
Velika Moštanica ( sr-cyr, Велика Моштаница) is a suburban settlement of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in the municipality of Čukarica. Location Velika Moštanica is located 22 km south-west of Belgrade, between the Belgrade-Obrenovac (5 km away) and ''Ibarska magistrala'' (4 km away) freeways. The administrative districts () of Serbia are the country's first-level administrative divisions of Serbia, administrative division. The term ''okrug'' (pl. ''okruzi'') means "circuit" and corresponds (in literal meaning) to in the German language. It can be translated as "county", though it is generally rendered by the government as "district". Ostružnica ( sr-cyr, Остружница) is a List of Belgrade neighborhoods, suburban settlement of Belgrade, Serbia, in the municipality of Čukarica. It has a population of 4,218 people (2011). Geography Ostružnica is located on the right bank of the Sava river, at the mouth of the Ostružnička reka, 14 km southwest of Belgrade, south of the Ada Ciganlija island. Karstic
Karst () is a topography formed from the dissolution of soluble carbonate rocks such as limestone and dolomite. It is characterized by features like poljes above and drainage systems with sinkholes and caves underground. Šumadija ( sr-Cyrl, Шумадија, ) is a geographical region in the central part of Serbia. The area used to be heavily covered with forests, hence the name (from ''šuma'' 'forest').
